If it works the same as the Wrangler 4xe, the Rubicon gets close to 40mpg, and will perform the same on all the trails... we have a few in our local club.
Yea the hybrid mode is the main selling point, I get that. But for how much more these are going to cost, I'm not sure you'll ever truly break even, even if they do GLH a bit better.

To each their own.

Calculating the 4xe's gas mileage is always tough because how do you count the electron miles? My wife drives 20 miles to and from work all electric every day on 37's with a 2 inch lift. For us it costs about a dollar to top up the battery, so does that mean we get about 70 miles per gallon because a gallon of gas is like 3.40 and we get 20 for a buck? On the highway for longer road trips (120+ miles) we average 18mpg at 70, if I drive 100 miles at 70mpg, and 100 miles at 18mpg, would that then mean I got 44 mpg this week? What if I dont drive it all week, and then take a long road trip?

Thats really the issue of this whole dick waving contest when it comes to MPG's. Diesel versus gas is easy since they both burn gallons of liquid. On the PHEV i burn gallons, and I use electrons, if we just go by the energy content you can kind of apples to apples it, but for real world if I go by what i'm spending, my total fuel bill is about 1/3 of what my JT would be driving the same.

At the end of the day, we didnt get the 4xe to be green or save the planet, and if it burned rotting whale carcass mixed with kitten tears we'd still buy it. The selling point for us is the performance, and with the tax credit the value. We wanted a fully loaded wrangler, and the 4xe with tax credit is the cheapest way to get in one and has the most power and is the most fun to drive besides a 392.
Pour one out for the guy that had rotting whale carcass smell stuck in the inside of his cab a couple months ago.

Funny how this always becomes an electric versus ICE debate.

If the electric crowd wasn't so annoying i might be able to hear them out. They remind me of a certain group of people that shall remain nameless.

You mean "I'm right and if you don't totally agree with me you're wrong about everything" type of people?
Yeah pretty much lol they also call any response to their ranting verbal abuse or some kind of assault.

40 mpg? It's more like 20 mpg, combined, from all reports I've seen. Most here can milk that out of their Pentastar or diesel JT. It's electric apologists saying things like this that get people too excited about something that they shouldn't be getting excited about in the first place.

Regarding the OP....it's been obvious for months that there will be no 8 cylinder JT, at least from Jeep. Time to move on from that hope.
If it’s not 20 degrees outside I can average 35 to 40 mpg combined on our 4xe without issue. Wife drives about 60 miles for her daily commute, charge it over night and she drives mostly on electric to work and mostly on gas the way home “ due to no charger at work” if she could charge at work we would see closer to 60mpg combined. I can get it up to 75 mpg combined if she don’t go to the office for a week. Just running local errands get home still on battery and charge it back up for the next day. And it’s ballsy as fuck to boot lol

Well, the OP's article is from April, so yea..... nothing we haven't already heard.

The rest of this thread is interesting, because my buddy's wife is picking up her new 4xe Rubicon this weekend. Trading in her hemi Jeep Trailhawk for it. They figure she should be able to do almost all her normal driving on electric, and still get the hemi performance if she needs it.

So glad we got rid of those CFLs years ago and switched to LEDs. Even less power, longer life, and no hazmat needed.

True, but the PREMATURE push to end incandescent bulbs gave us CFL, an ABSOLUTLY wrong alternative... but push, force and conjole to what end, necessary hazmat, like the need to have mass windmill blades burial grounds
Everything will come in time, let it happen naturally and it will happen BETTER
