Hey! Looking for help on understanding what happened and my options are. Did lots of research, but nothing definitive.
My 20 Rubicon got broken into. They shattered the back driver window, either crawled in or then opened door, went straight for ripping out the glove box. With my research and from what the police said, looks like they were trying to steal my truck. But then some anti theft comes into play, thankfully, and stops them. I believe because either the alarm started going off or turning it on went dead and wouldn't start for anyone.
Quick details:
- my keyless fob stopped working
- couldn't manually unlock driver door from outside
- as soon as passenger door or any door opened / remained open, alarm would go off
- emergency start with pressing fob wouldn't work
- this happened in a fairly busy parking lot, around 830pm, right by a bright light pole. Security does patrol in golf carts, but they were charging and weren't at that exact moment (shows me this was planned and scoped).
Questions:
1. What anti theft features did this? And why did they actually not get away with it?
2. Can I simply wait 24hrs, reconnect battery and the fob will work again?
3. Can I get anyone to reprogram it, besides a dealer?
And any other info/insights would be much appreciated.
I will say I am happy and think it's badass that it didn't get stolen.
Thank you for your help!
