40s look killer. But now I have 315s and thinking about 37s. Looking at all the downs of going any bigger. Reprogram, gears, ram assist steering, performance and mpg, wear and stress on everything . From what I hear 315's is the limit without falling down the rabbit hole.

All true probably. If I had to daily drive this the truck would not be this big.

I’ve been running 37’s on 4.10’s for about 2 years now. I see low 13’s around down and mid 14’s on the highway and my rig is heavy as it’s built out for overlanding. I feel like I have good jump off the line in town but I also don’t see 8th gear unless I’m on a flat or downhill.

I vacillate on regearing because I know it’s the “right thing” to do but when I regeared my my Wrangler from 3.73 to 4.56 I only noticed about a 1mpg improvement; so, I struggle with finding the time and value to do it. Especially when I consider that my gas mileage on the Gladiator isn’t a whole lot different than my Wrangler.

Regearing will rarely net you much of any mpg improvement as the engine still needs to be making a certain amount of power to move the truck through the air. You might see a tiny bit if the regear gets the engine in a more efficient spot in its rpm range.

The extra low end grunt though and the ability to still accelerate with a trailer at highway speeds was the real reason for me to regear, it was like night and day from 4.10s to 5.13s and I gained no mpgs (or lost any for that matter).

Man your truck just looks "TOUGH". It's crazy that even huge tires look at home on some Gladiators! I just went up to 37's and my truck looks badass, but there's something about the 40's!!

I've been noticing other lifted trucks lately (like Ford and Chevy/GMCs) and they look ridiculous to me because they have so much lift with small tires it looks just stupid. They can only fit like 35's at best "in" the wheel well, but most lift the truck so high the bigger tire isnt in the wheel well and the truck sits well above the frame looking stupid.

Thanks lovin the look too. I know what you mean about new trucks. Before the Jeep I had a Tundra with 12“of lift and a 3“ body lift on 40’s was definitely a big truck !

For 315s the 4.10 is fine but for 37s 4.56 or 4.88 would be best but the 4.10 will work with 37s. For off road there is the 4:1 transfer case in low range. I really think 40s cross the line and will be $$$ in the long run. Even 37s (36.5) is a bit of a stretch for hard wheeling without more mods.

I wish my wife wasn't so short. I'd hate to see a side by side of those 40's next to my OEM tires on the Rubicon.

Not that you don't know, but a 40 from a 37 will only net +/- 1.5 inch step in height increase... Not trying to push you since 40's open the door for additional mods for reliability. If I lived on the west coast, which isn't going to happen, I may consider it, but realistically, 37-38 should get me anything I need.

40's mean that I don't fit in my garage anymore, and I don't want to give that up yet...so I'll be keeping my 37's.

Yea I was happy mine fit by 1.5 inches in the garage.
