I’ve had my new Gladiator for a few weeks now. Drove into a snow storm early this morning and had a hard time seeing the road. I pulled over and found both my headlamps and fog lamps covered in snow. In the ole days, heat from the light would melt the snow. Was thinking maybe waxing them would help or possibly rainx. Anyone overcome this issue?

Welcome to the Jeep forum, I’ve experienced this and have seen the dozens of various solutions posted on here in the past.

Personally, I get out and clean them off and carry on my way. ?

Oracle makes heated versions and I’m sure throwing some rainx or similar couldn’t hurt.

Good luck.

This is the reason I have stuck to my halogen headlights and just put better bulbs in. Sure, not as good as the LED's for light output, but is fine for me.

Welcome to LED headlights....

Advantage - brighter, put off less heat and more efficient.

Disadvantage - put off less heat and collect all frozen precipitation like a funnel

For over 700 bucks I can stop and clean my lights off!!! :)
Honestly, Ilive in Vermont and have LED lights. I don't notice a big need to clear them typically. Other times in a wet freezing snow/rain/sleet mess maybe sometimes. But for that price, I will stop and clean. :)
Agreed, purchasing the Oculus headlights just for the heated feature would be a very expensive purchase... but if you're in the market for a quality headlight AND you want the heated feature then, the cost is very reasonable to fit the need.

Dug into this a few years ago (still just clean it by hand when needed), but the options that I found were: the heated lights by oracle, there is a patent and a company for a stick on heater (but looks like it never made it to market), switch from led to your favorite incandescent, clear by hand, then 1 possible DIY option

I got the idea for the DIY from EU regulations for keeping headlights clear ... one option is to use wiper fluid to spray them ... for those of us with front trail cameras, this should be easy by T'ing into the washer line for the camera and adding spray heads into both headlight buckets ... I have the parts, but frankly, this is low priority for me relative to my other jeep mods .... but as long as the pump has a high enough flow rate this should work

... come on, just do it ....that way I'll know if my crazy idea will work!

Welcome to LED headlight in a JEEP Wrangler/Gladiator design....................

To the OP -
There's at least a half dozen threads on this very topic with various solutions, and various silly nonsense - you be the judge..

No, nothing helps. I've tried RainX, and all sorts of other "anti-icing" stuff, various glass and plastic treatments. In some cases, there's just nothing works.
It's a funnel, there's no place for it to slide off to.

Maybe a large piece of clear Lamin-X to go over each light and keep snow from accumulating in the cavity?

This is why I ordered mine with the halogens. At the time, the worse the snow was, the more important it was for me to drive in it (drove a plow truck for work).
Retired now, but I still live in rural NH. I added a light bar on the front bumper triggered by the high beams. Curious what you went with for better halogens though.

If you have a front bumper with a hoop, bull bar, grill bar, whatever you want to call it,
you can get DOT approved driving lights and mount to that bar.
Check your local laws, some don't let you run more than one set of driving lights at a time.

In other words, turn off the Jeep headlights when the aux driving lights are on.
Same thing plow drivers are supposed to do.

Philips E-XtremeVision H11 bulbs. I think Philips has remarketed their bulb line and call it something else now. It is one step down from their top of the line Halogens as I wanted more balance of better bulb life.

They are step above the factory Sylvania bulbs that come OEM. I have had poor life expectancy using Sylvania higher end halogens and just stick with the Phillips line of halogen bulbs now.
