Ahhh.....you never had a CP3. They are all CP4's. No one makes a kit to install a CP3 into a 3L Ecodiesel.

So I never got any paperwork on new fuel filter changes. I'll have to check for stickers. Literally received no paperwork except for the service writer papers that were given to me stating it was done

Fuel filters arent part of the recall if just the pump gets replaced

what cp3?
A CP3 is a different fuel pump. It's an early fuel pump that was used on Cummins and a few other diesel engines. It has a better track record. The CP4 replaced it.

If you're asking what the new fuel filter change guidance is, it's now required to replace the fuel filter and drain water from the filter assembly every year or 10k miles, whichever comes first. If you use biodiesel blends greater than 5% (B6-B20), then both oil changes and fuel filter replacements are required no later than every six months or 8k miles.

They also now specify that if you use B6-B20 biodiesel, that fuel must be used within 30 days (driven and depleted to less than a quarter of a tank) and refilled with fresh fuel.

Sitting at the dealer now. Did almost 86K miles on the original pump with no issues, so I’m breaking the “don’t fix it if it ain’t broke” rule, but I’d rather not find that break somewhere on a snowy mountain road. So here I am.

Fingers crossed.

Done and out in 3.5 hours. Just pump and gasket. Everything looked clean. They told me stickers and manual insert will come in the mail. Also told the pumps are kept and shipped back.

Service manager also said they’ve never been told what the upgrade is. So, still a mystery, but now I’m driving it.

Excelsior!
