I am thinking the only balancing machines I ever see at Discount Tire are roadforce machines.

I believe you. Thanks for the heads up!
the machines can balance with out using the tumbler. its just a feature they can turn on or off

To reply to the road force balance question, I was told directly by Mickey Thomson not to road force balance the Baja boss ats. I can’t speak to other tires.
Another item I gleaned from my call with M/T this morning. The tech said that because the sidewalls on these A/T's are so strong, the outer 1/2 inch or so of inner and outer tread blocks will take some time to wear in. Don't know if anyone has noticed but the outer edges of the tread blocks on the 37's are angled down, they drop off more than what they do on the 35's. 35's look almost flat across all blocks, 37's angle down. Tech told me that is normal and those will wear in to be flat and to chalk test occasionally to be sure pressure is good.

yes mine are, and its especially more obvious on a 7.5 in wide wheel like mine. I run 27 psi.

That’s likely the issue. Mickey Thomson said to run these at 27psi cold. 37 was for stock c rated 33’s.
This is interesting.... I'm also having weird feathering/cupping on the stock 33's, but I'm running more like e 43 in the rear but because of weight - it's probably close to what you are at when towing. Sounds like pressure is too high even with all that weight. I knew about this on the TJ/LJ era but didn't think it applied to heavier vehicles.

My first set was on 7.5ā€ wheels. They wore fine at 27psi as well.

This was their suggestion for the 35's?
37's and not really a suggestion, they need the oem tire size and manuf. suggested pressure to calculate for whatever tire size you have. (information on sticker inside driver door frame)

their number is 330-928-9092

The tire pressure he gave me just happens to be 1/2 lb. of psi above what would activate my TPMS sensor which is apparently 25% psi less than manuf. suggested psi.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info, I will give them a call.

It appears that everything seems to be sorted out now but to chime in with my BB AT's in 37in I also run 29psi and haven't had issues over the last 15k miles. I love them so far! Wish they'd make a 40in AT :)

Didn’t someone post a chart a while ago that suggested tire pressures for different size tires?
I don’t think any chart would be helpful. There are too many combinations of vehicles and tires.

I have not owned them - so take my comment with a grain of salt. I was 100% ready to buy a set, but my local 4x4 shop told me that recently they had pulled OFF multiple sets for howling noise - and really advised me to not buy them. Not sure if that's what's going on with yours, but they directed me towards Toyo Open Country AT3's, or I might be leaning towards Falken Wildpeak AT4's - although they are difficult to find right now in 35x11.5/17

Tiresize has a recommendation calculator but only offers E rating for 35/11.50
IMG_8454.jpeg

Falken sent me an email and suggested I get an alignment so that’s what I’ll do first. Maybe it’s off since I wheel a lot. Funny thing is, I never aligned my Samurai once in 18 years. Maybe since it was so light it didn’t matter.
Falkens are I’m sure different, but that sounds pretty close. My friends Mickey 35x10.5x17’s are I think e rated and they wanted 40. If yours are d and 11.5 maybe 33 is correct.

Tire shop noticed today that my 37 Baja boss's with around 400 miles on them are all showing "choppiness" or uneven tread wear on inner blocks. Air pressure is right, alignment is right, no off-roading , no hard acceleration or sharp curves/turns, nothing but easy daily driving.

The choppiness is obvious on a couple of the tires but is present on all of them.

Tire shop offering to warranty them out an put a replacement set on but want me to either go with the same tires or they suggested TOYO's with less mileage warranty.

Does any of this issue with the M/T BB At's sound familiar? Anyone experience this? Really like the tires, so far, but at 400 miles with choppiness showing up already don't know if I would risk it.
My stock Wild Peaks did this. Horrible cupping and feathering. Dealership wouldn't do anything about it. I got Atturo trail Blade tires. No issues and they've been on for over a year now.

They are C rated. I might try 30 psi. Usually outside wear means too low pressure though.

Sorry OP for flooding the thread with my issue, but since we have two different tires I’m wondering if it’s vehicle related.
Agreed.

I ran a set of 40" Baja Boss MT's for about 10k miles and they wore very evenly for an MT tire. I just got a new set of 42" Baja Boss and they are quite soft, even compared to the 40. I'm not sure if they changed the compound a bit but I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not too concerned since I have a different set of wheels/tires that I run in the winter and will daily drive on in the summer.

Personally, if I was running a 37, I'd go with the Baja Boss AT. I've ran quite a few AT's and they were by far the best in everything I threw at them and they look very aggressive for an AT tire.
