I've been working on the jeep gladiator rear reflector delete / DIY light plate. Just finished cutting and testing. The holes lined up on the first try but if mounting a light on the plates, I'd enlarge the holes as needed to allow you to equal the spacing of light to bumper opening.

I used 14ga which is .083 vs 1/8" .120
Plate is not flimsy at all. 16ga .065 might be a bit thin after mounting a light.

I'm personally designing these to mount some @diodedynamics SSC1 lights most likely in amber hooked up to aux switch.

Keep in mind that rear-facing reflectors are required under federal law.

not in all states. and you can add reflective tape to the unused surface area. And most aftermarket bumpers all eliminate the rear reflector all together.

Federal law means every state. Enforcement may be missing in some areas, but reflectors are required everywhere. This was an issue discussed when Oracle was designing their backup lights to replace the reflectors. Replacing the factory bumper with a aftermarket product pushes the responsibility to the vehicle owner. The issue rarely comes up out on the road, unless someone runs into you while parked on the side of the road.

Either way its all up to the end user to decide on how they mod "for odd road use only" ;)

I did this same mod on my new Gladiator. I think I bought the plates from you. I used surface mount rock lights, to make it easier. I did apply red reflector tape to the plates. There's pictures around here in one of the other threads.

My dad works for the federal rear bumper reflector enforcement joint task force and I just gave him your information. Looks like someone else's dad in here does too!
