Good morning! New here and wanted to see if someone could answer it for me. I just recently purchased a 2023 Gladiator Rubicon. While at the dealer they said I could do a lift as long as it was 3” or smaller and tires no larger than 35’s.

For folks that are putting 37’s on, have you had any issues with the warranty if you had to take it in for any work?

Magnussen-Moss covers you and keeps the dealer from DQ'ing your warranty claim when you have mods provided those mods are not the cause of the warranty claim.

If the dealer is installing the mods, then they had better have something on paper that says you're not left hanging in the wind.

Mine is currently at the dealer for a couple check engine lights. It is highly modified and so far the dealer has had no issues working on it under warranty. It has a 6.5 inch lift on 42s. I think it all depends on the dealership and also what the issue is. Obviously on mine any suspension or drivetrain issue would probably be voided as I have 1 ton axles and upgraded driveshafts but the engine is completely stock and should still be covered.

Wow…Nice rig! I shouldn’t have any issues then because I just really want to run 37” tires. I just figured they wouldn’t warranty the engine/trans if I went with larger than what they recommended. I appreciate the info!

It depends on the dealer, and what the warranty claim is. The only lift that is not supposed to have any warranty issues is the Mopar 2 inch lift that is Dealer Installed.

Yeah. I know I will void any suspension when I do an aftermarket lift. I’m more concerned about the engine/trans. I just didn’t want to do a lift with 37’s and something go wrong and then they claim that the tires were the cause. You never know about dealers these days. If something ever happens and I know it wasn’t anything I done or parts that I installed then I guess I will lawyer up and tell them I will see you in court.

Not a lawyer but am former dealership tech... I've never seen a MM claim win and each time the vehicle sat for months in the back lot while things were sorted out. They are generally very picky on which ones they fight but when they go, they go hard and you can't afford to compete on their turf.

MM exists to prevent truly unrelated warranty denial... like voiding a drivetrain warranty because you added wheels or denying an interior issue because of a lift. If you mod, expect that you will have no related warranty.

There are no set rules on lift or tires but that may be the line your particular dealership draws. The official policy is that no lift but the Mopar lift installed at a dealership is covered.

You mean my aftermarket parts installed by me aren't covered by my factory warranty? Is anyone surprised by that? A. Lift kits rarely need warrantied B. Every reputable lift company offers a warranty on their parts C. Every one I've ever delt with has better customer service than any dealer I've ever been to. Knowing some dealers are shady as hell, if my trans or engine blew up I'd probably throw a set of 33s on the Jeep before I had it towed to the dealer but that's just my lack of faith in them.

Thanks, I just got call from my dealer and they said it is ready to pick up and found the battery was going dead and not charging causing low voltage issues and replaced the battery under warranty. I highly think it is dependent on the dealership. The service advisor even recommend I get a tazer to adjust for the tire size and some other settings. I already have one I just removed everything before taking it in as this is only the second time I have taken it to the dealership and don't know them that well yet so didn't want any issues.

Which is why I quoted you. The only difference between the warranty with an aftermarket lift and a dealer installed mopar lift is the warranty is extended to the lift components. The rest of the warranty is unchanged. No your aftermarket springs didn't cause the radio to go out or the lifter failure that took out the cam and thus the entire engine period. Unless you're worried about a warranty on the actual lift components, I wouldn't bother with the overpriced mopar lift or overpriced and often poorly done dealer install.

You literally just spelled out the law protecting consumers? Unrelated to lift, still covered. Sure there are unscrupulous dealers that try to deny warranty claims because there's mud in the engine bay (not the intake), but that's what lawyers are for. If I was that afraid to mod my Jeep, I'd be just as afraid to wheel my Jeep, and therefore I wouldn't own one with a warranty.
