I have a 2022 Mojave with the original batteries, and I am wondering if I need to change them before the upcoming Wisconsin winter and if so, do I replace the auxiliary battery or delete it. I do not use the ESS

2021 Mojave, while installing a dual battery system under hood to support my fridge in bed , I eliminated the Aux battery, installed a jumper between N1 and N3, and installed the auto stop delete kit. Auto stop switch is always off with light on , but pushing it allows it to work, I never turn it on ,not a fan of shutting down the engine and restarting….Jack

I use my Tazer to disable the ESS. So if I do delete the auxiliary do I need to put a jumper in between N1 and N3 if I pull the 42 fuse?

I did the genesis dual battery kit and used a taser to disable ESS. This wasn't an option so I couldn't vote lol

I love when I forget to push the button and step on it and it hesitates for that split second... The wife, riding beside me notices and hates it worse than I do... but it ain't fun when out in an intersection and having to move quick as the light goes yellow and oncoming traffic doesn't stop and you gotta move fast.

The typical life span of the batteries is about three years, less if they are not kept charged. The two batteries are paralleled together all the time, except during the startup test and during ESS events. The charging system sees them as one battery. Pulling the F42 fuse just forces the startup test to look at the Main Battery instead of the Aux Battery.

Best thing you can do to your Wrangler.
When my auxiliary failed The jeep would not start.
On the third attempt every thing went black and it fried my 8.4 radio. Non reparable
New main battery $200 and used 8.4 radio $750.
You can do it now or wait until you have a problem like mine.

Installed the auto stop eliminator so it is always off when I crank it up. I may delete the aux battery later.

Just to be clear if you pull fuse 42 and disconnect the negative cable to the auxiliary battery you should do nothing else. If you want to physically remove the auxiliary battery then you need to add a jumper between N1 and N3 or bolt the two positive cables on the auxiliary together.
