Seems that it's a remain of some German language, we call it "Doppelgänger".
Interesting, in the German language it's not the twin but it is somebody which is looking very much like the original person.
Pretty much means the same thing in American English also. It is also not uncommon to refer to someone that looks almost like another as a "twin" but not actually mean a biological identical or fraternal twin.

Ha, kinda the opposite of this. If you have Netflix, check out a series called Black Sail. It’s similar to Pirates of the Caribbean but without the humor. Lots of beauties in the whorehouse the pirates regularly visit and there’s plenty of T&A shown too.
