I don't really have any strong feelings about it, but I voted unfavorable just because the people who engineered the vehicle only added it to make emissions requirements. It's not something an engineer would have planned into the vehicle if they didn't have to do so because of government regulations.

It's Shit. It Sucks. It is the worst P.O.S. system I have ever had in a vehicle. The start/stop systems in my Chevy and Toyota work way better. Every time I pull into my driveway and stop my Jeep the engine shuts off, just to immediately start back up again when I shift into Park, just to be shut down when I turn the Jeep off. There is no way that process can be good for the engine or starter.
I agree with these very quick stop and go situations and the ess kicking in is annoying.

And yet people bitch there's no V8 option. That would cost fca dearly but people don't want to pay for it. Yes you got the reason. Without it, no Gladiator.

I bought a tazer JUST for this feature. To say I dislike it is an understatement. Also, real science doesn’t work on opinions it works on facts. This was a poll. What’s the definition of polll? to ask (several or many people) a question or a series of questions in order to get information about what most people think about something. Thank you for the poll.

You really do keep missing my points or don't care to try. ....... Opinions based on lies are not founded in personal like or dislike. I find it annoying is an opinion just based on a person's perception. But opinions based on false information such as "it doesn't save any fuel" is a false belief based on lies, not an opinion. So those saying they hate it because of wear or oiling issues .. that's not an opinion, it's a false belief based on bad info. If it's annoying, that's an opinion. So most of this isn't even opinions! It's beliefs based on lies or bad info. You'd fail badly in research companies.

It is and thus my bit about opinion based on ignorance and "I think .." rather than fact. I have posted a partial list of over 2 dozen things it checks for. That one made my points perfectly. And the starter crap is another one of those things. I posted an engineer's comments on starters but we still see that. So it's opinions based on lies and bad info, not informed opinions.
I disable mine every time I get in. You may save a dollar a week on gas but how long will the starter last and what's the cost to replace?
Someone here just had a starter replaced on a 3.0l. $800, Wow!! For the purpose of ESS, the starter should last a long time. The design of the system takes a big load off subsequent starts during an ESS event. Low battery voltage, fuel delivery issues or ignition issues are what will kill a starter.

I’m not favorable with it because even with it engaged it never lasts a red light cycle anyway, plus creates the aux battery issue and need!

Me personally, I would rather it not have it, keep things simple with one battery that would probably last a minimum of 7 years.
Yes! But since it is out of our control, we must know what we are dealing with before deleting or modifying via youtube. Pulling fuses and yanking cables based on what the other guy did is a no start waiting to happen.

Oh we get the point but your continuous gaslighting over an obviously unpopular system to some and your pontification over other people’s opinions that don’t agree with your opinion is getting as annoying as the ESS is to some of those here.
Do you have a turn off button like the ESS?

For the record, I avoid these kind of responses because I don’t like negative posts, but come on Bill, give us a break.

I was mulling that over the other day because I don’t like overriding complex systems and came to the conclusion that it is better to use the system as designed and use the override button provided even though I have to press it every time I start the Jeep.
It’s pretty much a natural habit now.

It sucks ,it never kicks in at stop lights it is always weird stupid places it wants to do it. Like when I pull up to talk to someone or stop to let someone turn off without me rear ending them etc.. its stupid and definantly got to be hard on something don't care what anyone says. Thats why I just keep that trash turned off. Finger goes straight to the button as soon as I start it.

Eh.... Most new vehicles come with it now. If you want a new vehicle, suck it up. If you don't want it get an older Jeep or vehicle.

I think it's fine. Ive gotten really good at controlling when it does and doesn't engage with the brake pedal, and it is quick enough that ilthe engine is always back and ready by the time I need to use the gas.

If a person doesn't want to modify the system and just not have to push the button all the time you can simply just disconnect the hood plunger to eliminate having to remember to push the button inside the jeep.
