Can anyone give me a way to program my SD card? I keep getting an error message when i program it and put it in the truck. My first one worked perfectly but trying to do it again to no avail, is it a formatting problem? And i have used different sized cards. Give me a rundown as to how to do it correctly please!!!

SD with a reader was the option i went with instead of USB stick, worked fine the first time, just did another and i am having trouble. I'm positive it's a formatting issue( it is fat 32) not sure why this one won't work. NO there is not a micro sd port.

There are several threads on this with USB sticks. I would suggest finding and reading those. The biggest issue seems to be with the size of the media. The limitation is in the head unit capabilities. Other sizes can work, but 8gb with fat32 or exfat formatting appears to provide the best overall results.

Most of the time an adapter requires a driver to be recognized. Also which port you plug into could affect it in our rigs.

I have had similar problems on a RAM trying to get a SD reader to work on the USB media input ports. Would work maybe one out of 10 times. Best I could gather from other people was that Uconnect will recognize only one USB input for media and was confusing the SD reader for one input and the SD media in the reader as a second and it could not handshake both. Just bought a dedicated USB media rather than mess with trying to make it work with something it really was not designed around to do.

FYI, these head units also don't do well with large numbers of files. They take forever to read the file group and populate a list, that by the time i got to where i was going, the list just populated.

I also think this prolonged effort also kill a usb drive i had.

Now i just load up my phone with the mp3s i want and play my music though the phone interface/android auto.

I use high resolution FLAC files on a good USB stick (PNY 128GB - USB 3.0 spec - available at Amazon $21.99 for a two pack) formatted in FAT32.

I had an issue when I tried to load folders with music in them on a USB. Once I loaded individual tracks on the USB I had no problems. My current play list on the USB has about 300 songs.

I use the aux USB connection in the center console.

If at all possible, use a usb. The reason for this is because some card readers read and write at different speeds. The reader that you're using may be too slow for the unit to read from it. Also... micro sd cards have different classes and speeds as well. That could be an issue. And it does have to be Fat32. And some vehicles can only read a certain size card. I can't remember whether a 128GB or 256GB is the largest you can use. Not saying any of these are your issue, but it's possible.

I don’t think my 2020 has that option, but I’m well covered through CarPlay options.

Oh. Ok. I never thought about trying. I just plug my phone in and I can listen to my music though the music app. It’s literally my music library. No commercials.
