So my 2022 JT has roughly 13,000 miles. It’s been at the dealership for over a week. My brakes started feeling extremely spongy the day after they installed my new HD coil springs. They replaced some check valve/sensor that hooks to my booster. Nope. Not the problem. Now I’m waiting on a master cylinder to come in. Anybody else run into this issue ??

Did they have to disconnect the brake lines to fit the springs? Sounds like step one is to bleed the system, but someone is just firing the parts cannon at it.

Funny thing is I went out in the shop when they were trying to figure out the problem. They checked all the lines and they were fine. That’s when I said do you think maybe by stretching the lines so far to get the springs in that maybe air got introduced to the break lines?? Everyone just gave me the look that I didn’t know what I was talking about. I’ll bet that’s the only problem.

When I drive the truck I can pump the breaks to get a stiff pedal. But after a little bit the pressure goes away and I can pump the pedal at the next stop and have a stiff pedal again.

My JL is the same way and my JT is starting to do the same thing. When customers first started complaining about it the dealerships would bleed the brakes but the bleeding would not fix the problem.
I think the problem is a caliper piston being pushed back too far while driving. I automatically give the brake pedal a little double pump when stopping, I will add that my jeeps have no fluid leaks and no air in the systems. There are several threads on the issue, do a quick search for more info.

Even when you are right, nobody likes to be told how to do their job and they are going to do what they are going to do anyways.

Funny thing is I assume the HD coils was customer paid work for the dealership, but they are going to use the guise of "warranty" to cover the cost of their mistake to fix.

I talked to the service manager and apparently the tech did in fact bleed the breaks before determining that the master cylinder was the problem. Said it’s leaking internally. My JT is out of warranty unfortunately. BUT They did say that they sent the informing Jeep anyways and Jeep is going to “Good Will” the parts. I will only have to pay 20% of the cost of parts and that’s it. So that’s pretty awesome!

The dealership was paid to install the springs for me so that way they couldn't just take the easy road and blame me for messing something up during installation. Something I could have easily done myself but this is why I have them do certain work on my Jeep’s.

Every time I hear the term " Jeep is going to Good Will the parts", I assume they are doing that because the service department did something wrong and don't want to admit it to you.

After installing a lift I had an issue like yours. My brake pedal was soft and would slowly go to the floor if you continued to apply pressure. The problem was that one of the banjo bolts attaching the brake line to a rear caliper wasn’t torqued to spec and had a very small leak. It was so small that it wouldn’t form a droplet but the area around the connection to the caliper looked wet. Torquing to spec fixed it.

Or there's a 'silent recall' on a part that's known to have a high failure rate due to a bad design or a bad lot from the supplier.

Yeah these Jeeps seem to have quite a bit of pad knock back. I prebrake a lot and just get use to it. I did notice that for some reason my ABS module was introducing air in the driver front. I ended up reseating the line and fitting and did a flush. Been solid since

I too had this problem then while rotating tires I notice one disc pads was wore more than the other . Which means the caliper isnt sliding. I pulled the calipers in the rear to discover that the slide bolts were very rusted and not allowing the caliper to move over. Removal of these slide bolts cleaning those holes in the caliper and installing new slide bolts and adding lithium grease fixed mine. Now it will stand you on your nose ..

Have you checked all the bolts that hold in your caliper, they may have removed your calipers to fully drop your axle when they installed your springs, it could be loose and not torqued to specs. I just hope they didn't just leave it hanging from the brake lines, believe me some lazy techs do that. If they did, there could be a small leak. But then again, I'm sure you would have seen fluid on the floor if that happened.
