Hi all! I have a 2023 Mojave, stock suspension, 2” AEV spacer lift, 35” MT Baja tires.
when I purchased this Mojave new, I thought it road a little rougher than expected, based on the reviews. I noticed it was very harsh over the bumps (where the asphalt starts to crack over time).
The lift and tires didn’t change anything on the ride, still harsh.
at the end of last year I test drove a new Mojave and was floored at how much smoother it drove. Same tires as my Mojave when I purchased it new.
Any ideas on why mine would ride so rough compared to other Mojave’s? And like I mentioned, it has had a harsh ride since I purchased the vehicle.
Thanks!!

Check tire pressures. Even a few PSI higher can make a big difference in ride quality. I run my Toyos at 35.

Did you install the spacer lift or was it done prior to you buying the vehicle?

I test drove a mojave back in April 2025... Rode ROUGH!!!!! I settled on a Rubicon (tire pressure were the same btw). Well that Rubicon started giving me problems so I went back to he dealership and saw my Joose Mojave. Test drove it and it rode totally different. Traded the Rubicon and have been happy ever since. Cannot tell you why the first Mojave rode rough, but it did. Hell.. .I even posted on here about it!!!!!

How many miles? For non-rebuilt w/o schrader vavles you are looking at 40k-70k need rebuild. (i keep a spare and just do it myself now). a shop costs $600-$800 to rebuild.

Depending on how hard you wheel it. I've noticed that those plastic speed bumps push the pressure out faster.

those that have been rebuilt, i would lift the vehicle and refill every 10,000 miles. $200 total to have a diy nitrogen kit.

Also those hydraulic bump stops are NOT rebuildable. so go head start looking for rebuildables around 100k.

Normal for any performance rebuild shock. raptor/mojave

Ok I have to ask...where did you get the rebuild kit? And the DIY nitrogen kit?

When I first started looking a few yrs ago, I had a better chance of breaking into Ft Knox than finding that kit...or even part numbers!

Interesting. If your tire pressure is at 30 psi like stated and the AEV spacer lift is installed properly so your shocks aren’t bottoming out then it doesn’t make a lot of sense. I understand your frustration.

TIre pressure isnt necessarily the issue. Once you have the schrader value and knob upgrade ($60) during rebuild. you can fine tune the feel. 100-200psi and adjust the knob for stiffer ride.

@NC_Overland I got crazy amount of resistance when i tried to make a todo guide. basically the internal 2.5 from fox's aftermarket for the gladiator works or you can buy the shim/ring kit from Fox, fox shock oil, and lots of rags. after that its purchasing tools if you dont have them. Its not hard, just make sure you have a clean space and spare shocks.Clean the shocks with soap and water first.
Also check for any scratches on the piston

Guaranteed your shocks are bad. And the jounce tube speed bumpstops shocks are probably shot.

grab a chuck and tank. after that air is cheap.

+1 to this.
Adding a shraider valve to these dampers (the adapters are made for Ford Raptors and use the same 10/24 threads) and adjusting the canister pressure makes a huge difference for longevity, oil captivation, and getting compression/rebound force curves back near a brand new/rebuilt damper if you do not want to through the rabbit holes of buying new shocks, understanding brand preferences on piston types, or adjustable click shocks. This is one of the most underrated upgrades to do for dialing in your Jeep in my opinion.

I found that the Fox 2.5’s lost canister pressure at around 10k miles, felt soft, saggy, and poorly controlled on compression. While I do not recommend 100psi canister pressures per se, I do understand what you are saying. I’d suggest a finer target of 125psi-205psi based on my testing.

And rebuilds on these are as easy as dampers get. Just keep track of your shim stack, orientation, and oil volume

I have test driven all of the models and I can't tell a difference in any, to me they all ride equally.
