Geez. Now they come out with coilovers after I just got my front Fox 2.5’s with remote reservoir and DSC.
Would be interesting to be able to compare triple and quad rate springs to the dual rate coilovers.
Also there is no adjustability on the RRD coilovers is there?

So what advantage do coilovers have over the oem configuration?

What works better for overlanding? Not hardcore rockcrawling. standard or coilovers?

Are remote reservoir shocks available for the standard "no limits" lift?

On the Pro-X bracket, is there a weld procedure or mark up of where all the welds need to be? Do I need to still run the u bolts after weld?

OEM can be just as good as coilovers or even better. Coilovers need a little more care, can limit travel, they need to be dialed in and can be noisy, a properly tuned coilover can be fantastic and some swear by them. I would never use coilovers at the rear of a truck

Coilover benefits:
Can choose custom spring setups for vehicle weight. Not stuck with the spring rate chosen by the lift manufacturer!
can dial in the crossover between the 2 springs of a dual rate coilover
can use spring preload collar to dial in desired ride height, and therefore the bump/droop travel of the suspension. No longer stuck where a manufacturer decides the lift/ride height should be.
most coilovers are rebuildable, and revalveable to vehicle specifics.
looks different/cool (subjective)

Coilover disadvantages:
Cost is potentially higher due to the required brackets to adapt coilover to the vehicle, and setup
may require more setup (well or you may want to keep adjusting due to the ability to do so)
Larger diameter in stock(most cases) shock location so the tire has the potential to rub/contact springs at articulation

As I see it there are really no real performance disadvantages to a coilover either for overland, crawling, or high speed/race use.

A couple of things i should mention.

The rear lower control arms will need to come off the truck there is not enough room to back the jam nut enough to get Loctite on the treads, the joint needs to be backed out four full turns in order to get enough treads exposed for the Loctite, do not get Loctite on the treads that go into the control arm just in the area where the jam nut will rest, then tread the joint back in four full turns. Personally i would tighten all jam nuts on the bench and not on the truck, it will mean more work but i feel it`s the right way.

If you do not cut out the bracket for the front LCA it could be possible for the jam nut to make contact with the uncut bracket at full droop.
Really good advice here and thanks. My install notes are growing.
How about using Loctite and torque the Rear Lower LCA’s complete prior to install and if I need to dial in pinion angle, or alignment, then do it using the uppers. ????
I’ll pay extra attention to clearance issues at full droop with the Front LCAs and jam nut while it’s on the hoist but I still think having the Zirk pointing down will be easier for lube maintenance. If I leave it in and don’t plug it I’ll at least put a rubber cap over it to keep it clean. Probably be wise to do all of ‘em with a cap to keep ‘em clean. Also add some extra Zirk’s and EZ out kit in traveling tool kit.

I just had my cradle welded to the axle, the welder is a mechanic for one of the Genright race cars they are getting ready for Hammers but he fit me in. He welded a two inch bead at the front and back on the outer portion of the cradle where it meets the axel he only welded that much because that was all he could properly prep without taking everything apart, he assured me that it was strong and nothing was going to rip the cradle from the axle even if the four bolts holding the cradle were taken out but he advised me to leave them in. He builds great race cars so i trust his work. He runs SoCal Wrap and Tint next door to Genright, they charged me $100 and i recommend them, they will be at Hammers the next 10 days starting Sat.

Note, if you want a full bead around the cradle and axle both must be prepped before installation.

Install the Synergy brace before you install the RK spring on the drivers side.

that was the plan. I’m going to get it welded before installing the lift by one of my pipeline/fabrication welder friends for a 6 pack. Pre wire wheel and grind whatever is needed.
