Well put, not uncommon. Were you able to get it replaced under warranty, and how did it perform after replacement? It began popping out of first gear necessitating replacement at 33K. Not an uncommon problem

It was replaced under warranty and seemed to operate correctly. As the radiator and two batteries had already been replaced under warranty this Jeep became a 2018 Grand Caravan after the repair, however..Well put, not uncommon. Saw this on the jl forums. Wonder if anyones showed it to the guy who's jl burned up in december '19 yet. The whole clutch basket, flywheel, everything, came out of that one.found this as I suspected.

Not sure I'd agree one issue with the tranny qualifies as "sucked so badly" but I can certainly see why the overall experience left you with a bad taste for the Jeep. Even with warranty fixes, that's a lot of headache. I hope the Caravan is treating you better. I rented one years ago and even back it was pretty great. It was replaced under warranty and seemed to operate correctly. Dang. Note to self: Don't ride the clutch (or tow heavy)Saw this on the jl forums. Wonder if anyones showed it to the guy who's jl burned up in december '19 yet. The whole clutch basket, flywheel, everything, came out of that one.
The sucked badly was dealing with it popping out and not settling into first right for months beforehand. The van was fine but it is now a JT....Not sure I'd agree one issue with the tranny qualifies as "sucked so badly" but I can certainly see why the overall experience left you with a bad taste for the Jeep. Buy gap in case it self destructs in the meantime. We'll all probably end up with a new clutch compliments of fca sooner or later. I'm not losing any sleep over it.Dang. Note to self: Don't ride the clutch (or tow heavy)![]()
Rubbish? I don't think I said that, the gearing isn't the issue. The main issue with the manual is the abysmal towing and, to a lesser degree, worse performance. If towing were equal I'd have still thought about it but a 2500lb reduction?Yes, of course the torque converter has its merits and delivers more torque by slipping and allowing higher revs for your given crawl. Which can be accomplished by slipping the clutch, but not something I would do (that is doing something stupid, as you'd put it.)
Rather, I have found the torque sufficient to climb a pretty rugged ~20% grade, even in 2nd gear, at idle, without coming close to stalling. That is feet flat on the floor. I don't understand how you can call that gearing "rubbish???" Revving to 1600 (2X idle) in 1st gives considerable more torque and speed is still less than 2 MPH.
Which part? Off road speed control works quite well.Ironically, there's a lot of misinformation here![]()
Autos aren't perfect either, mine is on it's second. @JeepCares , Now that the recall has been released, can you confirm that manual transmission orders will open up sometime in the future, and are not permanently closed? It would be great to end the rumors that M/T is dead if it's not.We do not have information that we can provide at this time. However, we will let you know when we do.

Is it this one back from Oct?Thanks all for the updates... Why haven't we seen a JT on fire from this? Did they identify the issue in testing? It says the thing could catch... Pics or it hasn't happened yet? Odd![]()
