Or take the spring out to keep it from flipping out. Ajt doesn't have a way to integrate the key into the fob and use it to unlock doors or lockable storage compartments, otherwise I would have kept it.

I just put it in the Gibson leather holder and clip it to my pants. If I need the key I just pull it out of the holder and then return it. So far has been working ok

I have manual door locks so I have to take out this gaudy thing, unlock the door then just put it back in my pocket because there isn't a key start option. Its just …..odd!!

My wife's Volvo has 4 buttons and a key, and is half the size- I've often wondered if other fobs (FCA?) would work instead- its a pretty standard configuration.

i so approve of this thread!

ajt is a band aid, not a fix, but i did that, and took the physical key, kept it on the pivot wheel and just ground the pivot wheel flat so it would go on key ring with a few other keys and a spring steel snap clip like on the end of key lanyards to attach to the open end of the ajt fob, so i can still lock/unlock the internal compartments as it's now just another key along side 3-4 other keys i carry always, all keys come with me when i leave the fob and jeep at a service appointment or installation, so the compartments stay locked as well

jeep did not think this through very well, the fob must die

I'm sure the Jeep Engineers spent a lot of time on this issue. There must have been some reason why they went with a larger FOB, compared to what was available for other models. Has anyone tried to contact Jeep Corporate and ask why?

The FOB is here to stay, and you will never see another keyed ignition in a new Jeep. If you complain loud enough, they just might find a reason to make the FOB bigger.
