I’m not offended. As mentioned, this is only a temporary $28 solution prior to purchasing $500 quality aftermarket complete housings. I never stated the led bulbs were as good as Mopar $900 units, nor would I expect them to be. It’s all good.
Thank you for understanding. I am not trying argue with you at all. Just using your pictures For demonstration

Count me down for a vote for Yes to the LED package. I love mine and I'm so glad I did it. It's done, and it's done right.

Here are my pros:
  • Obviously way brighter than standard, as we all can agree
  • It's the headlights, fog lights, fender lights and tail lights, all for a grand. No brainer if it's something you were going attempt after market. You will spend over $1,000 after market for similar quality, and then you got your hourly wages for the install. (I enjoy my time with the kids)
  • They look great. I was a little worried about not liking the cool white color, as I ALWAYS gravitate towards warm color bulbs, like warm white Christmas lights. HOWEVER, the cool white is 100% acceptable on the road to me. I personally think it does a better job keeping me alert and awake on late night drives. It's not obnoxiously cool white, either. Just crystal clear, bright, reliable light.
Cons?
  • I've heard a rumor that they don't melt the snow and ice....but these lights have been manufactured and installed on the JLs for years, right? Many winters. And I have faith that a recall would happen if it was really a safety issue.

The freezing thing is wildly overblown, Ive spent the last several years, driving my 18JLUR in the northeast, NY, Vermont, Canada, etc during the winter seasons it’s a none issue.
First I'll say in normal or rain conditions, the factory LEDs are amazing, 100% worth every penny. My wife's Cherokee has them too, we both love the light output.

I live in Cleveland, and this will be my first winter with this truck. But we had a major snow storm Tuesday, I can tell you the headlights do put off a little heat, not a ton. It was enough that my headlights stayed clear the whole time, but the fog lights did ice over and clog. I started with clear headlights and fogs right out of my garage. Now granted it was between 29-31 degrees for most of the storm. Not sure how they will fair when it gets closer to zero and it snows.

My wife has had her Cherokee for two years, on hers I can tell you if you start with a snow covered headlight they will never heat up enough to clear them out. But if you start with a clear brushed off headlight, they do seem to make enough heat to stay clear.

I am not expressing an opinion other than how I believe it looks. The hotspots are a fact. I can circle them on the picture. I can circle the glare on the picture. This is also a matter of experience in dealing with these types of lights before so I know exactly what I am looking for. I'm not trying to convince him of anything. Reality is reality and if you understand what you're looking at then the picture obviously demonstrates what I'm talking about. Providing information it's not trying to convince anything.. if a conversation is too intense for you to read perhaps you should skip this post
Funny - I somehow knew this wouldn't be the end of it.

Carry on.

What’s the consensus on best aftermarket LED housings? Oracle? JWSpeaker? Seems if a quality option could be had for $400-500, then forgoing the factory option becomes more viable, if someone desires LED.

My Oracle Fogs come in tomorrow and Oculous sometimes next week. For the price and the quality they seem like they will be better than the OEM for less money.

When oracle comes out with their flush fit tail lights I plan to get those as well. I think overall I will end up with at least equal quality, if not more for less than the factory option when the tail lights come out. I really don't like the look of the stick out ones on the JT.

Thanks for this thread. I researched a bunch of options. It comes down to whoever said "do your thing and be happy with it". There are so many options. No clear winner since everyone has different lighting environments, budget, etc. If anyone knows of cool vintage 'way back' look for the housing and a nice spread pattern for city streets and boulevards pls post. It's like wading through frogs with all the options available aftermarket.

Apparently it was an option back in the old days..

My old truck means keeping it old school....maybe in a vintage casing like the old KC lights of that time period....but what guts?
They make their classic 6" Daylighter with an LED insert, both black and stainless.

This is the route I went as well. From what I can tell the quality is top notch, easy installation, and a clean look (or wild color options if you're into that). The only downside is that my fenders are not LED and I can't tell how much that will bug me until everything is installed.

Probably will be slightly annoying, but nothing $38 on amazon can't fix there.

Thank you. Bookmarked it. That's a very clean light with good spread. Dig the housing and that it can be inserted if I can find a vintage canister. Check this out...

(None of these are known jeep stock so I'll keep looking until I find something, but this is what's immediately available. The last one fits my truck somehow...

Personally way to much, but if u wanna stay oem, then theyre ur only option. I spent half as much and love the outcome. Sorry, no night shot. And u don't have to hook up the x-halo if u no want. Cutoff, beam, output are perfect, easy install and adjust, and I feel no need for a light bar.

Well I just went the Amazon LED Bulb Replacement Light route many others went with and will just have to be a Dick since Jeep decided to be a Dick and put trash lights on a $45,000 truck.

Because they wanted to force everyone to pay for the upgrade. If smart and resourceful, diy for cheaper and sometimes better.
