When remote starting, the settings don’t change until you hit the start button.
And my defrosters work just fine...

I was able to improve defrosting the sides with just 10 plugs spaced as shown. By default the vent is blowing straight up the center so any blockage in the middle will divert heat to the sides.

Its cool you guys have such a good attitude about this. Part of being a Jeeper is rolling with this kind of thing and adapting. I had a 1978 CJ-7 that had at least a dozen "its a Jeep thing" quirks that were - mostly - part of its charm. But its 2021, and these trucks are not cheap (unlike my CJ). An ineffective defroster in the most expensive mid-size truck in America is just not acceptable. More people need to say so, and Jeep needs to provide a fix.
I’m completely with you! I didn’t know it was a thing till I was reading this, but I was thinking a couple of storms ago, that the defroster sucks! I have to be out in some pretty crappy weather , and it’s down right dangerous. Apparently I’m not he only one. Honestly it’s the only gripe of got on the truck, otherwise it’s the best snow driver I’ve had! But Really... an inadequate defroster... ridiculous.

I ordered 5/8" plugs off ebay. Although they fit, they do not fit snug. They tend to pop up when fan on high. I fixed that problem by installing two O rings on the bottom two ribs. I tried just using one o ringin different ribs, but nothing works as well as using two.

Snagged them from work but I'm sure Lowes or any hardware store will have them

Still waiting to see some of those 3d printed versions from that thread come to market. The plugs look a little cheesy, and nobody seems to agree upon how many/where they need to be placed for optimum air flow to the sides....

Some real airflow engineering was going on in the JLforums thread, and then it all went quiet.
