My transmission went out. The vehicle is not drivable.
Sorry. That part I could comprehend. That sucks and I get why you're mad.

My question I guess is it seems like this was almost expected in some way... like it was on a countdown... other responses seem to reference a known issue.

All I know is there was a recall on the MT. Read one caught on fire. Some software update.

This doesn't sound related? Some other issue?

My main problem here is people are talking about some issue with the transmission (btw, which one?) like its common knowledge yet I'm clueless here.

Thanks and sorry about your absolute shit luck.

Patience is a virtue in most cases, but here, if my brand new Jeep with 1100 miles COULD NOT be fixed, I would be telling Jeep I want a new one.

I had a similar situation on a brand new Explorer years ago. After dealership tried everything in book to fix and were unsuccessful, I told dealership I wanted to speak the regional manager. I did. The next week, my wife drove another new year Explorer home.

Sounds like you may be also dealing with a crappy dealership. if you do anything like above ....my advice ...keep your cool.

Good luck with your resolution. These are never fun.

Absolutely this.

The miles so low.... on an automatic no less.

This is what I would be demanding. Fix it or replace it. I agree 100% and whichever one they choose needs to start yesterday.

Jeep needs to fix this. One way or the other.

And yeah 100% keep your cool, not that you wouldn't but good advice. Have had my anger used against me enough to learn that the hard way.

First off, I understand your frustration. Personally, I haven't even gotten my Gladiator that I ordered mid-December due to the MT recall and likely other factors like parts availability and supply chain woes due to Covid. But I think focusing your irritation at Jeep is only half right. Remember that they didn't install the best transmission they could get, they installed the lowest bidder's. That's the cost of doing business, literally and figuratively. Jeep is not in this to build the best, they're in it to make a profit. It may sound cynical, and to an extent it is; however, shit really does happen. I'd say that for the total amount of automatic transmissions that have been installed throughout multiple product lines, having a couple crap out ain't too bad. Acceptable losses, as it were. Sorry that yours has to be the bad apple, but I think your best option has been suggested above in contacting the regional manager and expressing your complete dissatisfaction with this particular truck and dealership. I would think a MINIMAL gesture on their part would be to assume the payments while it sits on their lot, may even expedite the process to get you back on the road.

In the end, you are absolutely right to be pissed, just know that your focus should not be narrowed in on Jeep itself for doing what they actually are in the business to do. They'll fix it or in the least make things right for you, by law they have no choice. And for something as complex as a modern vehicle, they have an incalculable amount of issues that can and will eventually come to light. All they can do is move on trying not to make the same mistake twice while still providing the consumer with a product that will keep them in business. The dealership, on the other hand, sounds like they need to be bitchslapped. It's their responsibility to please the customer. You ain't too pleased, I wouldn't be either. DEFINITELY go above their pay grade and get some hammers to fall their way. No loaner at this time?!?! THEN they need to go rent you one on their dime.

Cheers, buddy! Patience is a virtue, it's just not one you need to enjoy. I'm not a fan either. ?

They are throwing new cars together, but can’t allocate parts for warranty work. That’s a load of BS man, and no loaner on top of that. I would definitely reach out to Jeep corporate. If I financed through Chrysler I would stop making payments until I had it back lol.

If you think Jeep screwed you, sell it won’t lose a lot of money. Go buy your dream vehicle Ford or whatever. Maybe a new Chevrolet. You’ll really feel the meaning of the word screwed

Definitely surprised to see that you're referring to an auto trans issue. As @Renegade mentioned, these ZF transmissions are known to be one of the best transmissions ever. Very sorry to hear you got one of the bad ones. I would've thought it wouldn't be too hard to get it replaced.
