what’s the DIY bedrail system?

QUOTE="Dreaded1, post: 689871, member: 24604"]
Ok KBvoodoo sells the "no drill clips" that attach to you bed and you don't need to rails. I installed the DIY bedrail system, and then attached the KBVoodoo to that, seemed my secure to me.

I am surprised to see not very many people using just a hitched bike rack. Just got my Mojave and trying to decide to buy a hitch for my rack or just get a tailgate pad
Mountain bikes are expensive now and with all these idiots on cell phones, heads up there arses. Would piss me off to have my truck hit, would really piss me off if one of my mountain bikes got crushed.

Hitch mounts, and I’ve had them, they rattle, are in the way of backup camera, in the way of the tailgate, are a pain to remove and IMOP just look stupid hanging way off of the back of a pickup truck.

SUPER solid feeling. For $80, I am pumped.

I have a Yakima hitch carrier too, but it's a bit of a PIA unless you leave it on all the the time. I just use it for long trips.
Nice Jeffsy!!!
(From another YT enthusiast...the whole family rolls with YT!!!)

Follow up. Finally got to take it out.

By far the best short trip bike carry solution I own. Like I said, I have a Yakima for longer trips, but it's not very convenient for just around town trips. Had one of the Allen hanging style hitch racks. Worst rack ever. I ran one of the DIY PVC racks, and they're ok, just not as stable off road, so you have to bungee them down, which diminishes the convenience. Replaced the PVC rack with a store bought metal one. Same situation.

The Inno is, again, the most stable and most convenient, by far. For $80, total winner.

I typically only roll with 2 bikes. This option was $100.00 on etrailers.com and it held the bikes firm all the way from Los Angeles to Zion. Has a key lock and I ran a long cable through the tie downs for security. Best thing is the tonneau goes over it and straps back onto the bar to prevent it from contacting the rear glass. Comes off in seconds if you just want to use it occasionally.

I cut and bent new tray mounts today to test for fitment and angles. They worked great. I will be cutting some in 1/4" steel, maybe aluminum this week to test for strength. I like how much sleeker the 1UPUSA trays are than the RockyMounts. The RockyMount trays are awesome, but stick out too much for my liking.

Installing 1 5/8 uni-strut around the inside of the bed, instead of buying the factory trail rails. I am ttrying to find the thread that has all the parts listed out, that you can get at any hardware store or McMaster-Carr.

Or there is this version. https://www.builtrightind.com/colle...ducts/2020-jeep-gladiator-utility-rail-system

3 MONTHS, to get my 2019 Specialized ST FSR Expert bavk from the shop. This was not their fault, I had to have the front shock replaced and everything is backordered!

But she is back and ready to roll! Now I have to get used to the 29” wheels again after running the FSR Stumpy 26er!

Hey everyone,
Just a plug for Velocirax... I switched up my hitch rack this year and I really love the Velocirax. The strut assisted hinge is not a gimmick and it ALMOST allows the tailgate to fully open. It's so so close and could be manipulated to come out about a 1/4in to fully clear. It still allows me to pull out my fridge so it's a win for me. I just wouldn't stand on the tailgate. Also, the wedge system to tighten the rack in the receiver is super solid and the rack is very stable.
