Locking Under Seat Rear Storage Bin Re-Keying

Did you ever get this working?

I didn't try. I decided to put a lock box in the console instead. I ordered two more cylinders to try again, but everything is sitting in my garage. Decided I can put more stuff in the original bin than the lock box.

I just bought one from a forum member and I’m going to make it work. I plan to be doors off a lot in the summer and want a secure storage solution. Ordered my cylinders. Watched the Qtec video. Pretty confident I can make it go.

Give it another try. Take your time.

I just bought the cylinders, etc and went to the local locksmith. They charged me $75 I think and took care of it. Honestly though with the options out there now in regards to under seat storage I would go another way since the Jeep Lock Box is very small and you really can't put much in it. I think it I had to go it over again would go with the 813 fabrication set up. I still may go that route one day. Sell the lock box I have and switch to their under seat lockable storage.

Yeah, but I don’t like the idea of having to cut into the upholstery or not being able to have my storage locked if I leave the seats in the up position.

I put in one of the center console safe's a short time after I bought the truck. Usually keep some things in there.

@Clay Im sorry about the delay on the vid. I had a family issue come up and i had to zip out of town for a bit. Im picking my box up this week and will post up for folks yet to do it.

Do you have any tips or instructions on assembling the cylinder that goes in the latch for the storage bin? Also, do you have anything on how it’s supposed to go in. I ran into the same issue as the OP, so I drilled out my new locks and ordered another set to start over.

yeah I never did a video becauseI opted against installing the system on account it wouldnt fit what i wanted.

that said, the lock cylinders use the same methodology for the lock gates as motorcycle panniers.

this video below should help: keep in mind, this process is NOT hard, but it is SPECIFIC so, follow the instructions and move slowly with your key. New lock cylinder kits should come with a bag of lock gates. Your dealer should be able to provide you with your key code to help verify your work.

I've often thought of getting an interior motion alarm as well. Something to audibly intimidate wandering hands from swooping inside. Cameras are easy enough.

The pins seem right and my key goes in. When I insert the cylinder into the latch handle and turn it, it seats and will not unlock.
