I am hoping someone can clarify for me because I think I was misled. AGAIN

So during the order process I opted to include the upgraded 8.4" screen (nav system). I was told that the 'technology' group package was relating specifically to the 7" standard screen.

Well I was going back looking at everything because of discussions in another thread. And this thread () got me to thinking. Danger if I didn't get told something wrong again. And I went over and over and over with folks and research....

So here is the question. Does the upgraded instrument cluster get included with the 8.4" NAV system, or did I get screwed by being told that the 'technology' package ONLY relates to the standard 7" screen. When going on Jeep.com there is a clear difference in the interior picture between including or not including the 'technology' group.

A follow up question is does the two instrument cluster screens essentially function the exact same??? I have a nasty feeling that the dealer will tell me 'too bad so sad' and say I have to either deal with it and suck it up or loose my deposit. I don't care about keyless entry at all. But I would like to know if the two screens function the same, or if there is a very drastic difference between them - that would have me quite irritated because the sales department obviously has no clue what's what.

When in doubt, order all available options...

The screens function the same. One is actual gauges, the other is digital creations.
I thought I did. I was apparently told wrong. There were other options (LED for example) that they said were 'not available' for order with some options I chose.

Again - massive issues regarding peoples ability to actually understand what they are selling, and of course how am I supposed to know when Jeep themselves can't explain it. I already sent an email to the sales department asking them to clarify and stating the potential fail of explanation leading me to not select the right options. I'm sure they will tell me to 'deal with it'. Hopefully I am wrong and overreacting, and that the fancy cluster comes with the 8.4 nav screen.

So. Do they both offer the same function? Off road pages, temp readouts, etc??

Is anybody able to confirm or deny if the 'upgraded' instrument cluster comes along with the 8.4 nav upgrade?

I did find this. But I don't know if the vehicle computer also needs changing in order to make the fancy cluster work correctly.

If it's not too late to make changes, go back to the dealer and go over everything. I believe the Off-Road pages are only available on the 8.4 Uconnect.

well the crappy thing is the rear diff on my TJ blew uo because a local shop forgot to out diff fluid back in. So I currently dont have wheels to get to the dealer.

i did send the sales guy a message and will followup tomorrow. That being said. If a cluster is easy to swap out and retains all function that may be a better way to go? I placed the order the March 4th and really need to not have any delays in getting a vehicle. But since it is still being scheduled to build maybe they can make a change still??

just extremely frustrating how obnoxiously difficult it has been getting accurate and true information from the dealer and Jeep about their own darn products

Off-road pages are offered on the 8.4-in screen. The 8.4-in also provides full screen backup camera. 8.4 also has a rear seat power outlet plus additional USB ports.

How will you get to the dealership to buy your vehicle if you do not currently have wheels?
Yes I think your right that off road pages is on the 8.4 screen. I am talking about the instrument cluster though.

Does selecting the 8.4 infotainment screen upgrade automatically upgrade the instrument cluster? Or does the instrument cluster upgrade only happen with selection of the 'technology package'?

That is the confusion I am having. I think the dealer assumes the answer is yes, but I am skeptical that I think the instrument cluster upgrade only happens when you select the 'technology' package.

But I can't seem to find anyone who can confirm this. I also found this as a reference
I also found this post. But nobody seems to be answering the question

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/different-dashboard-gauge-options.19992/

Well. Hopefully the shop that grenade my TJ diff can find parts to get it fixed. Funny thing is even Randy Ring and Pinion said 3 months! G2 told me 12 months for an entire drop in axle - insane!! I will be getting a ride to the dealer from a coworker or friend the day it arrives and is available for pickup though. I mean I would have to do that either way just to get it back home. Household of 1 here so gotta find a ride from somebody to make it happen.

I'd say yes. In the thread you quoted, the analog dash came with the 5-in screen. And that time the 7-in and 8.4 in brought about the digital dash.

Also found this just now. I placed my order March 4th. Not sure when Joe made his order, maybe in 2021? So possibly something changed between 21 and 22? I kinda am doubting it though. This confirms my suspicion. Guess it is a common lack of knowledge that the upgraded cluster is ONLY available with the tech package. Very frustrating to be ordering things from people who have no clue what they're even selling...

At least it sounds to be a easy change. The question will be how much will it cost.

Sorry to see that. I guess I didn't know that along with others. I guess we can see how hard is to stay current on all the changes that Jeep makes.

This goes to show that apparently nobody has a freaking clue what they are selling, even Jeep.. Yes, I'm irritated and ranting because it should not be this difficult to find true and accurate information. In the end, poor execution of providing correct information ends up making unhappy customers and/or screws people because they pay exorbitant amounts already to end up with something less than they expected or something they dont even want.

Hopefully my foot will be in my mouth upon delivery and this will be wrongful complaining, but we shall see. This should be a good warning to others. Before ordering do EXTENSIVE research and don't trust anyone (no offense to anyone here who is trying to help). Maybe try and reach out to engineers or project managers at Jeep specifically to know EXACTLY what you are and are NOT getting. Because even Jeep representatives themselves cannot seem to answer very specific questions. Which is very strange....

Extremely frustrating. Buying process should not be this difficult especially when vehicles are easily 50K.

Yeah exactly. I mean - you don't know what you don't know..right? Until someone who does know can tell you? The problem is that between 15 different dealerships I have called now, in about 5 different states, AND Jeep themselves - I could not get FACTUAL information for the multiple questions I have asked. Probably because I'm so detail oriented and actually want specifics, not just 'happy with what you get' kinda of person. Even had a couple dealers tell me that to my face - "well you agreed to a price right, you should just accept it and be happy with what you are given". FYI don't buy from ANYBODY in Walla Walla Washington. And you are totally correct, part of the problem is manufacturers make so many changes so quickly it's hard to keep up. A guy I spoke with yesterday even said Jeep doesn't even put out so much as a notification or bulletin to the sales departments that a particular option is changing. How crappy is that? Anyway, enough ranting. I will contact my dealer today and see what they know if anything and see what can be done about it. probably also going to contact Jeep directly again and get to the bottom of what actual specific options I have and don't have on my order and why.

I do appreciate those trying to help answer questions ?

Off-road info is also on my instrumental cluster. I only have the 7 inch screen. However, I don't know if the base instrument cluster has that on it, or if it's exactly the same info that the off-road pages show, since my 7 inch screen doesn't have the off-road pages.

This is the Off Road Page on the 8.4 Uconnect. I have a shortcut in the lower right corner so I don't have to bring up the App page to load it.
