Hello all!

I need help. I just bought KO2 37x12.5r17 and I planned on using the stock rubicon wheels for now.

My installer is telling me that 37s won’t fit the stock rim. 7.5” is too narrow.

I need real world experience here and not heresay.

Will my tires work with the mopar lift for street duty to get home? I will do a full flex and compression test as soon as I drive it back.
It is out of tire manufacturer spec. Many shops won't mount them.

You will be fine using the stock wheels with with a 12.5 tire. You will just need to lower the air pressure some. I ran 37 inch Cooper STT Pros on stock Rubicon wheels for years.

And just like that, more conflicting info. Lol
Thank you for the replies. I guess I need to see if the 12.5” wide tires will actually fit the 7.5” wide wheels myself.
Spending another $800-1500+ for wheels wasn’t in the budget just yet.
Damn tires were $1500 for 4.

Can and should are two different things lol.

They can be mounted but it is out of manufacturer spec so many shops won't do it. Are there people that do? Yes.

Mounting a wide tire on a narrow wheel causes ballooning and uneven wear however.

I had 35x12.5r18 Firestone MTs on my stock Sahara rims on my JK for many many miles without problems OR uneven wear. As has been posted multiple times the key is proper air pressure for the load you are carrying. Since most of this size tire are Load Range D the tire itself is constructed much more beefy than Load Range C tires so the pressure must be reduced proportionally. I think with my JK I finally settled on 27 PSI as the perfect balance. When I sold that JK I had a lot of miles on those tires and they still looked barely used. If you go to Discount Tire's website and look up a set of 37x12.5r17 BFGs you will see that they spec 7.5-10 as rim width.

I haven't looked at every page on this thread but whats with the 20" wheels? All of a sudden becuase its a pickup a ton of guys are doing 20's or larger. I still find the 17" maybe 18" to be the best look with a meaty tire. Personal prefrence I guess, but I am surprised so many people even from surfing IG are running such large wheels on a midsized pickup.
