That is very true, a class II hitch. The class IV hitch comes with the heavy tow package.
How can the Rubicon without the max tow package, have a rating of 7000 with a Class II Hitch? I thought a Class II would be much lower than that... right? I'm no expert here.

Ok. I think I understand now.

Standard Equipment on all gladiators: Class II Receiver Hitch

If you opt for the Tow Package or the Max Tow Package, then you get the Class IV. I think I got confused with the "heavy tow" verbiage... sorry.

Wondering if anyone has seen what the ā€œstandard class II hitch looks like. I have seen a lot of stickers showing various hitches, all at extra costs. Have not yet seen any sticker and truck with a hitch where there was zero extra price listed for the hitch shown. If you have a small trailer to tow then why pay anything extra when a class II should work just fine along with the 4 and 7 pin wiring harness that will come standard along with that standard class II hitch? Anyone seen one of these rare birds in the wild yet? Got pictures of that standard hitch?

That's odd. All of the Class II hitches I've seen are the smaller 1-1/4" tube with the miserable 300 lb. tongue weight limit and 3,500 lbs. max towing limit. Can't get much work done with one of those.

Not everyone needs to tow huge loads. A small trailer will haul 4 kayaks easily. Or a Sunfish sailboat, or a small John boat. Or you can plug in a bike rack. And FYI some class II hitches can have 2ā€ tubes and yes some can have 1 - 1/4ā€ tubes. Would just like to see what the standard Jeep set up looks like.

Wranglers come with a 2ā€ class 2 hitch.

Trailers have been common in my world, growing up on a ranch we had them, today I have 5 down from 6, I sold one an regret it. None of my trailers which range from very light duty to heavy duty are set up 1 1/2 in, they are all 2 or 2 5/16th. My last 2 trucks had 3 in receiver tubes.

The point is I am not seeing much 1 1/2 anymore and I believe this is a good thing. More folks pull in an overload situation than in an underload.

I am getting ready to order a slide in truck camper that loaded will tip the scales at around 5500 lbs. Today we have folks pulling 5th wheels that are over 20,000 lbs.

It's a bumper hitch, meaning it's just a hole in the bumper you can put a ball in. If you look at the pics of the bumpers, even with tow package, there's a plastic peice over the relief for the license plate, most likely there's just a hole under that piece on all of the trucks.

Hey @JAY snd @SKT do either of you work for Jeep? Adding @JeepCares Love to know what happened and the standard class II Hitch that was shown on the Jeep web site early on, was to have been standard on all trim levels. See the attached 2 screen shot pictures. Now today I do not see a mention of this standard class II hitch anywhere on the Jeep web site. Today it shows that you can get a class IV hitch on all trim levels, costs $250.00 I donā€™t need to pull much weight. I have a small kayak trailer and I also have a bike rack that I plug into my hitch. Also attaching a picture of a Gladiator that does not have any hitch on it. It has something under the rear bumper, looks like 2 square areas where you could hook a trailer chain to but no actual hitch under the bumper. As you will see it has the 4 & 7 pin plug connector. Also no hitch listed on the window sticker for this Gladiator. So what happened to the standard class II hitch? Love to know so people would know how to order a Gladiator with this standard class II hitch.

Jay works for FCA, I doubt that SKT does but I don't know. I ordered the tow package so this doesn't concern me personally but the list of things promised and then taken back is growing. Class 2 hitch, tire pressure inflate/deflate beep, rear locker while in 4wd high.

Hi Jake,

We appreciate your patience while we looked into this. I have been informed that the feature was removed from the website to reduce confusion. The Class II hitch isn't actually a receiver hitch. Instead, it is a spot in the rear bumper to place a hitch ball that can support Class II towing. This feature is still standard on all Gladiators. I hope this answers your question!

Thanks Lydia @JeepCares Can you please attach a good, up close picture of what this looks like? And do you have an up close picture of this hitch with the ball attached to the hitch?
