I'm sure there's another thread with a similar project, but I couldn't let the crate go to waste. After being offered a $100 for it at the dealer, I decided to put it to good use. First nights tasks are done, more to follow.

The " top" also found a home on the wall.

Second night in the books. Stenciled grill and raised edge board.

Next step epoxy resin coating, then hinges to access box.

Ideas on what to put inside? Beer cooler comes to mind first.

I'm tired of looking at my pile of parts, waiting for my MT Rubicon to be built, so projects help pass the time.

Careful with that idea . . . could get hot under all that plywood . . . cause the cooler to overheat . . . quick call 911 / fire !
Secret Safe ? (hidden hinges & don't tell anyone) . . . oops too late !

I like this idea. Any plans to flip the top so when it's open the Jeep grill is facing the right direction?
I gave this some serious thought. If i did that, you would have to grab the "top" of the grill to open it, which didn't feel right. So I went with what you see. It shouldn't be open for more than a few seconds at a time, especially if i'm grabbing beer out of it LOL

You have time and skills how about mounting a dart board and dart holders under lid open it up and have at it! Perhaps you could 3D print the dart holders, to be angled back on the board so when closed they don’t fall into box. I assume perhaps you know about 3D printing, if not ask your son he does!.....Jack
