Trying to decide if I am going to order factory installed LED lights when I order one. For those that already have them, are they really that much better and are they worth the price?

Thanks for all the responses....going LED!

Yes, one of the best factory upgrades for the JL.
Having owned several JK's and a JL(my wife's) with the halogens the LED headlights were almost a necessity. I have a JL Rubicon with the LED package and the difference in visibility is substantial. Not only can I see what's directly in front of me, but they also light up the sidewalk and ditches fairly well.

For the price and considering the cost of aftermarket ones, I think it is a great deal. All covered by the factory warranty as well. win win win ;)

The only problem I see (haven't tested yet as it is still summer in Iowa) is that the factory LEDs don't have a heating element on the lens. This could be a problem in ice and snow where it will build up and restrict the light. There are some after-market LEDs with the heating elements, that is what I think I would prefer. I have an LE so we'll find out how bad that is next winter!

I’ve heard the same thing. Since I drive in places that can get in excess of 200” of snow a year, I chose not to go with the LED’s. Southern states will be fine though.

I live in Colorado and have to travel north once in a while. I have owned a few jk’s that I’ve added non heated leds. I haven’t had any significant troubles with having leds while in winter. Now that said you get into a big snow storm... sure... they can get covered and you go out and clean them off... by that time your windshield & wipers will need to be cleaned off too. Also the heated leds are expensive since ridged industries took over the truck-lite series. JW speaker finally came out with theirs but is expensive too.

I have the led package and they are super awesome and worth the money in my opinion. They work from day one, covered by warranty and... the rest of “all” your lights are led too!

The YouTube video below is one of the best comparison videos for various 7" round headlights. It lead me to getting the LED package when I ordered my truck. As mentioned above all your lights are LED. With the limited night time driving to date, I am glad I got them.

As you can see, some did much better than others! When we look at beam patterns for 7 inch round headlights, we look for a straight cut-off line, width left to right, height under the cut-off, and a strong hotspot positioned at or directly below the center of the cut-off line. Any light above the cut-off line is potential glare in the eyes of oncoming drivers.

SO THEN WHY CAN'T WE (LOWLY) SPORT S FANS HAVE THE OPTION ? ? ? Same goes for the Trail Cam ? Just not "worthy"?
Is this some form of subliminal-ism ?

Keep in mind the JL/JT headlights are 9 inch, not 7 inch. You can get brackets and still use the 7" headlights, but they are not the same size as the OEM headlights.

There are very few 9" lights in the market and I don't think that will change very much in the near future because (1) so many get the LED package from the factory and even more will now that the JL Sport S offers them as an option and (2) they can still sell the 7" headlights with the bracket to JL/JT owners

2020 JL apparently will offer them as an option on Sport S. I bet the Gladiator will follow next year.

Well that's encouraging . . . by "next year" I hope that means January 1st 2020 OR like in a MY, perhaps as Early as Oct./Nov. 2019 ? I'll be watching with short intermittent breaths and a Wanting look in my eyes ! HINT @JeepCares ? Doubt it .
