In my down time over the course of the last month I've been combing through the likes of cars.com , calling dealerships that claim to have a 6 speed JTR, only to find the ads are bogus, (but all the dealerships are real quick to segue you into placing an order). Convinced Jeep Dealerships across the country don't feel the demand justifies ordering for their lots, a low optioned 6 speed JTR and I had pretty much resided to the fact that I would need to place an order with my local dealership and wait it out... until I saw this post- @LongTimeListener , thank you for spotting this beauty! $115 one way flight from New York to Michigan on August 30th and we're taking our time driving it back topless on this long holiday weekend.

Excited to join the Jeep Gladiator community #savethemanuals

Alright, so I came to the right place. Is this the humiliations galore thread?

Sorry for you all but I have worse to entertain you.

So I've talked my shit relentlessly about throwing gears for years, best ride quality ever is hitting the shift at the hillcrest bouncing over an escarpment etc etc etc. You've all heard it. You've liked it at times. You know I pride myself on some m/t skills. And so now I'm feeling like I got my shifting badge and I'm cool.

Well. No.

So I've been driving my beloved 64 JT in the neighborhood.

Up walks a neighbor. (I love this guy, knowledgeable, good dude, old guy experience you are lucky to know in a person, etc).

So we are going through every aspect of the JT. And it starts to rain. So we jump in and a ways into it I jump out and he gets to drive.

Did I tell you he has raced, built cars, etc? I have total respect for this old guy.

This guy drives it like he owns it! No growl, no grind, I'm like this is my truck!?

We get back and I say yeah, let's see you back it in (urban obstacle course, cars, cactus etc).

I don't even hear the engine. Twinkle feet over there dancing with my clutch pedal.

We are standing over the tailgate talking about the drive. All very good news.

I say I'm amazed you got this backed in, you have heard me driving in the neighborhood, heard me backing in.

He says, ya I did, figured you were new to manual transmissions.

It turns out I have zero idea what the hell I am doing. No idea how to drive this thing. Watching the old Dude drive it like it is meant to be driven. Dang. Gonna take me awhile to get it right.

Humility my friends.

It's good to have delivered, even if they back it into your driveway and squarely park it in your face with a kindly ole smile!!

Swapped out the awful Sport rolling stock with JL Rubi take-offs. LED lights and trimmed the bumper fillers. Loving the look.

The base sport wheels are pretty terrible imo. Looks like where stock on 1998 Cherokees

I found this Sting Grey Manual Rubi in South Carolina... it's perfect minus I want the Tan interior. I think I'm gonna have to order

Headlight Revolution sources them. Supernova V.4 headlights and fogs. They are seriously amazing. Look them up on YouTube and you’ll see what I mean.

Hey M/T guys that I've missed so much over the holiday weekend! Figured I'd share one last update before I officially sign off of this thread (my last Troutman).

Mopar off-road wheels, Cooper STT 315s and Mopar lift installed last night.

Like I said the other day M/T or Auto, these vehicles are incredible. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's build as I will check in occasionally!
