Has anyone installed a 10" or 12" subwoofer under the back seats? I've seen a lot about them being mounted behind the rear seat but not much about under. I'd be willing to sacrifice the storage for a better sound system.

I'm sure once the dimensions get publicized someone will start producing under seat sub boxes. In my Rubi the sub is behind the rear seat. I can really feel the bass when I crank her up

Yea I had 2 - 10's in a fox acoustic box that rested on the fender wells and fired down. It sounded amazing with the top on and still sounded pretty good with the top off too!!

That was the setup I had in my JK. How does yours sound with the top off?

I am going to be jamming two JL 13tw5v2 13.5" subs under the rear seats if I cannot fit them behind the rear seats. Ill let you know how it goes.

Edit - this will be after I find time to remove the entire interior for sound deadening so it might be a while.

There may not be enough room under the seats. You'll be fine depth-wise, but maybe not diameter-wise

With removing the hardware storage behind the lockable storage there is enough clearance in theory. depending on wood thickness and the grade of the floorboard it may be an issue. Hard to say for sure until I buy one to place in there. The issue I am running into is the back seat latch on the rear firewall in that its obstructing the necessary 15" of space.

might end up with just going for 1. or maybe 2 Sundown Sd3 10"

Under the seat? I think I might start a fiberglass box soon and use an older JL 8w3v3 I have sitting around, but even that might be too tall

8s won't fit! only have 7.5 inches at front of seat and 8s require 9 inches to mount.

Are you sure? I measured 11 inches from the front of the rear compartment under the seat to the bolt storage box. Mounting depth is the real challenge.

yes if you are building a downfire box. Most likely need a shallow mount sub max internal dimensions are 4 inches at rear and 6 inches front

I think the cabin is small enough where it won't matter that much on orientation, but firing down probably would give you slightly better gain. I think firing up directly at the seat would be fine
