Haha I read all 15 pages of that thread.....I love the info and theme of the creak squad....my question is why can't you just pull the exterior door skin off and put some better insulation and sound deadening in like dynamat to fix it?

I'm going to save you all the trouble of trying to trouble shoot this. The Jeep Wrangler JL forum has a 15 page thread about this that I have been actively involved with since we share the same doors. I am sad to say that as of right now there seems to be no fix. There is a foam that Jeep uses between the exterior door skin and the door frame that breaks down rapidly causing this annoying clicking sound we are hearing. If you would like, you can have your doors replaced under warranty, but that would mean a respray of your brand new Gladiator and nobody wants that. Plus they will just replace it with a door that will eventually have the same problem. This is not a safety issue, just an annoyance that we will all unfortunately have to live with unless Jeep themselves figure out how to build an aluminium door correctly. CREAK SQUAD UNITE!
I don't disagree that this is happening, but it is definitely not what i am experiencing. Hopefully i never do

I have the noise, both passenger doors. I tried tightening bolts still there
Hi JT_Ollie,
Are you considering having your dealer take a look into this? As stated to your fellow forum members, we'd be happy to connect you with a Case Specialist to assist you and your dealer throughout your service visit. We are available via PM.

You could definitely give it a try. The door skin is tack welded to the door frame so it would definitely be difficult for anyone especially since it's aluminum welding to steel. That being said, the gap between the frame and the skin itself is extremely small and a foam that does not expand could risk a bulge on the aluminum skin. It's also too small for dynamat. We need to find some sort of non expanding foam that we can spray into the gap to try and mitigate the sound. Dynamating the interior of the door is also a possibility to try and mitigate the sound but honestly to me it's just not worth the trouble of ripping apart my brand new doors. I'm just going to hold out and hope that Jeep comes up with a real fix themselves soon.

Your one of the lucky ones. Most of the door clicking cases are all caused by door separation from what I've seen. Good luck with your Jeep. Hope this doesn't happen to you down the line

Concerning the gap between the door skin and frame and sound matt doesnā€™t fit and you donā€™t want an expanding foamā€¦. Why not use a construction adhesive like PL PREMIUM caulked along the seam? It pushes into the seam, sticks like nothing else and dries hard.

It works for creaks in floors.

Mine comes from the little hinge thing that keeps the door open. The dealer replaced one of them and it was worse. Now the other door does it. They were like "that's a shame" I've given up on dealers and I just want them to fix my emergency brake. I will be happy with that.

I just left the dealership from getting my emergency brake level replaced after not having an emergency brake for 6 months! Opened the door in the parking lot and noticed this sound. I had also asked them to check the body bolts because I have an occasional loud popping sound when I decelerate. They didnā€™t check them. I got home and played with the door and then googled this issue. Wide open moving it back and forth it makes the exact same sound as what I see on the JL forum. It would have been nice if my dealership had mentioned this to me.

So I guess itā€™s 1 1/2 hours back to the dealership to get new doors.

Went ahead and shot a video and posted it to the JL forum as well. While doing that, I also noticed that all 4 doors creak a little but only the drivers door is super noticeable and obnoxious sounding. Iā€™ve already accepted that the whole hardtop creaks particularly when itā€™s cold and I now lubricate the freedom panels to help with some of that.

@JeepCares My 2021 Jeep Gladiator passenger door is also creaking due to the design flaw. My parents 2018 JL creaks on all doors and has been tracked with dealership and JL Forum - https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/creaking-doors-anyone.27405/page-23

I have an appointment with Brown's sterling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on Thursday to get documented. I am not interested in door replacements that need to be resprayed to match Jeep when the design has not been fixed.

Maybe a check for half doors will suffice ;)

Just disconnect the door check mechanism, push it back into the door, then put the screw back in the threaded hole. Problem solved. The only downside is that the door is no longer held open. I'm OK with that because I'm used to my JK.

I thought that if your Jeep didnā€™t creak you should be concerned ā€¦..oh wait. Thatā€™s a different thread.

Carry on.

Yeah once my other doors start creaking (which they will) I will probably disconnect hinges and go old school strap only route. Just sucks you pay for a new JT/JL for latest features and have to remove something. It is crazy it has been 4 years and Jeep still has not corrected issue. I wonder if Ford Bronco has door creaks :CWL:

Hello @JeepCares ,

Is there a TSB or reference for issue with door creaks on JL & JT yet? I was at dealership yesterday for my 2021 JT and they are looking at issue, but it feels like every dealership does not understand issue is from door design and they try to throw new parts at it. First they want to replace door stop, then grease stop and hinges, then they want to replace hinges. Same pattern for my 2018 JL. The conclusion for everyone experiencing this is the same. New doors needed, but that is not a fix as the new doors will ultimately do the same thing.

It feels like by the time Jeep corrects design and has a permanent fix the Jeep will already be out of warranty.
