Just had an excitable moment...went to Jeep Aust to ask the never ending "when" question...
Gladiator is now listed as "coming soon" officially... (mid 2020, for what thats worth)

I spoke to a dealer (Sales Manager) here in Sydney and he reckoned AU$90k for a diesel Rubi. He also said the 3.0l diesel as 'Aussies dont buy non-diesel utes'.
He also told me they would be here 'early 2020', but I doubt that as he would not take an order from me and said to wait until pricing etc we confirmed ...

Unfortunately our laws make it hard to go too crazy, especially with wheels size and lift.

Having said that, ARB will still take many thousands of dollars from me!
Well that's the worst thing that you can do with a Jeep... lol. ARB are only good for their lockers & compressors. Best to take it to a Jeep specialist.

All goes well, we're planning on doing 2nd stage manufacturing for these Gladiators so they come with a 3" lift and either 35s or 37s FACTORY. If we pass a 35" you can run a 37" legally without engineering, same goes with 37" you can do a 39".

If that doesn't pass, you can still confidently engineer 3" lift and 37s in NSW.

Who are 'we'? Do you work for Jeep Australia (FCA Aus)?

Is this an easy process? Are you aware of what is involved? Any idea of cost?

Thanks in advanced for the I am super excited about the Jeep ute!

I work for Solve Offroad. We're a 4x4 Specialist in Sydney with a bit of a cult following of Jeeps. The owner and myself are Jeep mad too.

Relatively straight forward. We've an engineer we use who is regularly engineering JK Wranglers on 37s and 3-4" lift. Generally speaking it involves a proper suspension kit (not a cheap option) and diff upgrades. With little bits like requiring mud flaps, and ADR approved bar, etc. At the moment I think you pay approximately AUD$2500-2800 for testing & certification.

2nd stage manufacturing is a completely different ball game. It involves vehicles being modified before they're registered, then having new compliance plates and whatnot stamped. They do it in Queensland for the 79 series so its delivered with 35s and a lift. But why you'd pick a 79 series I've no idea...

Awesome! I am new to Sydney and looking for a Jeep shop! And your shop is only 10 minutes away from my place ... looks like I may have found my new best friends! ;)

That is not too bad. I will add it to the budget! What are the Sydney cops like towards lifted Jeeps, or are the just not that clued up?

So does that mean I buy the JT from you or a dealer and ship it to you? Sorry if this is a stupid question (or for any/all stupid questions! :) )

But why you'd pick a 79 series I've no idea
Agreed! But that have a cult following, just like us Jeepers! :)

That's it! Nice and local ;)

Pretty harsh in the south and west suburbs. Best to make sure you're covered. Admittedly I'm in Western Sydney and run the gauntlet.

It'd be dealer delivered with 37s and 3" lift for example.

FWIW, I am hearing that Aus is only getting the Overland and the Rubicon...nothing on pricing or engines yet. Also some LE's
But nothing firm yet

Has anyone heard anything?

I have looked on CarSales news, Bing and CarsGuide - can’t find anything.

Test drove a wrangler out of curiosity and for a footy competition... had a yarn to the principal, he’s expecting mid next year, but they have been given nothing on pricing and options.... only thing of interest is he thought the 2.2 would be the diesel.... but then again he knew next to nothing about 3.0 eco
