The proportions look better, but it's even less practical now. HOWEVER, if they made it a 2 door with this same overall length and replaced the back 2 doors with the bed length they bobbed, I'd bite.
You mean something like this:

I would really like one also.

Yes, if they ever release this model, I will trade my Gladiator in for one...
Cheers

Be careful what you wish for right?

Okay Iā€™ll stop that now.

If Iā€™m picking up what youā€™re putting down, youā€™re thinking it would look like a LWB short bed regular cab truck which is not a bad concept, somewhat Land Rover like. Iā€™m thinking a defender 110 single cab basically.

Looks like a train wreck... but to each, his own.

I personally think it's badass, but then I have little use for the bed anyway.

I think it's a great idea for the guys that use these rigs on the rocks. When I saw the SEMA video showing the blue one, the first thing I thought was that it's going to be one of the big go-to modifications for the rock guys once the JTs are circulating. Looking at that picture real quick I keep thinking it's an RC truck.

That said, it looks like this one has some serious droop potential based on the control arms in the rear. I'd be interested to see its functionality!

If ONLY somebody made a Gladiator without a.... wait.... that's just a JL then.
Not really. A JL doesn't have the tow capacity of the JT. I also use the bed but being 6" shorter wouldn't really matter either. It's not like I bought it to work out of. If I needed a full size bed I wouldn't have bought a Gladiator in the first place.

Is there any documentation of the work it took to shorten the bed down? Its very interesting and I can imagine the body work required to shorten the bed sides but also modifying the frame and bed internals I would like to see what all was involved.
It was a ton of work, put around 70 hours in to it getting it perfect. Its a full 12" chop and everything is back in place to look OEM in the bed, and under it

Well both your truck and the black one are what they should have been from FCA. A 4' bed ain't hurting my feelings at all. Nicely done. If you get the urge to do another one and need a donor, I know a guy.

What's going on underneath the bed? It looks like a really well done job. Do you have any pictures underneath?
