Softopper coming

Need to straighten a few things out. I'm also having an issue with the front trail trail being in the way of where the front window would attack to the bed

How are you enjoying this? Any sounds from bed at high speeds? Are the problems you were having fixed?

I enjoy it so far. No discernable noise, and you have to contend with Frost in the back. No big deal. Still didn't have a solution for the front window flap, but it hasn't been a problem really. Another member posted about removing front trail rail and reattaching, but I don't want to have to do that if I take the softop off when going topless for the summer

Haven't gotten around to it. Looks like they probably test fitted on a model without trail trail.

How quick is install/removal? I'd like to get this just for trips I need more storage - and run a tonneau the rest of the time. I have probably 4 or 5 trips a year I'd need the extra room this would provide. Tonneau cover takes maybe 5 minutes to install/remove, if this is similar I'll probably grab one.

Finally got around to installing my Softopper. Ran into only one issue. This bar had been bent at some point prior to shipping, and wouldn’t attach like it was supposed to. I was able to pry on it enough with a wrench that it eventually became round enough again to install. Just need to install the rear window in the morning and I’m all done

I probably would have if it was color matched and the same weight of material as the topper

I asked Softopper about that. They said that the blue/silver color are the only colors they have. They buy em from over seas company. When i get my softopper, i probably wont buy the tent due it not matching either. Looks to be a tarp material.

Softopper arrived today at dusk via fedex. Got the kids fed and in bed and went to work! Overall I am happy with the product, quality fabric and frame. I ran into 2 small problems that were easy to fix. 1st as mentioned before, the factory trail rail prohibits attaching the front window properly. I wasn’t giving up my trail rail, so I removed it(4 bolts and 2 body plastic retainers), marked the lower fabric with a sharpie poked a few holes and reattached the trail rail. It is solid, that window ain’t going anywhere, and I don’t plan on removing the top on a regular basis. From there, I had previously installed a Decked storage bed locker system, and unfortunately the Decked system is too high for the rails to fold as designed. Simple fix, body saw to the ABS plastic sides, cut out a 2”x2” block out of each side, the frame bottom can now rest about an inch lower than the Decked. If anybody needs pictures of that I will post them if asked.

I'd love to see what you did for trimming.

Measured, estimated the travel a little bit, and bit the bullet. Got it on the first try, luckily! Do I get a free storage box for being your redneck R&D?

Man if I wasn't going Alu-Cab I would get one of these. They look like they BELONG on a JT. Some of the other toppers just look....OFF.
