So with anything I do or buy I research it to death... to the point of which it is almost overwhelming lol. I have watched enough exhaust videos for the last few weeks than I care to admit. When I say I have looked at all of them, I have looked at all of them lol. Had systems in my cart about to pull the trigger, and then decide maybe it’s not the right fit for me. I want performance, quality, and value. A lot of great systems out there... but I wanted a great deep sound, that sounded aggressive, and like it should be there for a truck with the name “Gladiator.”

I decided to go with the Thrush Welded 17659. In their sound clip, I know it was a V8, but it seemed to hit the notes I was looking for... that I thought I would get the best tone/note out of the Gladiator... for what I wanted.

I thought it was only fitting to go with Thrush as they have been in the business for 53 years, a longevity and staple just like Jeep with an excellent history. It has the same inlet and outlet as the factory set up... and is a two chamber muffler. I was afraid if I chose a straight through muffler it would be too much for this application. I might have one of those built later, depending on how this turns out. I will try two options with the Welded... a few feet out after the muffler, and exiting at the rear axle.

I am using a local shop in the area known for excellent work, and the guy there loves to do anything custom. He’s known to be the best around. They have done several exhaust for my friends, and are highly recommended. I plan on getting this done by next week so stay tuned. I will share cost and pics of the build... and a video of finished product. I feel this will be a very cost efficient set up, that should turn out pretty epic. This should be fun...

For reference here is a link to the muffler I am using. The guys at DynoMax/Thrush were super helpful in my conversations with them about the Gladiator.

*** Muffler ordered online $41.99 from Advanced Auto with in store pick up had a 25% off code + tax came out to...
$34.48
$75 for install gave them $80 cash

$114.48 total

all boxes checked... exceptional quality build, price, and sound.

Nice, I had a Thrush exhaust on a heavily modified 1976 Civic (my first car) back in the '90s.

Looking forward to hearing it when you're done!

Several pics... really deep sound. Only slight drone in certain gears... at high speeds very mellow/calm. When you open it up it sounds great! Mean! Very aggressive but very mellow.

They told me it would be more beneficial to put the muffler where the stock one was... for heat shield purposes. I agreed. I dropped it right at the rear axle. .. it’s tucked up there nicely, and the pipe to the inlet is up nicely as well.

Cold Start... (got a little trigger happy on the rev’ing.. it will not let you rev much over 3K rpm) not that I would ever really set somewhere rev’ing it up like this)

Thats awesome man! Good customer service goes a long way.

I hadn't heard of them before this thread, but the vids convinced me.

I've always liked thrush mifflers.

Some of your drone maybe from the dump vs an out the back exhaust. I had a dump on a Wrangler for awhile and it would echo off the ground. When I ran it to a behind the rear wheel angled out that drone drastically decreased.

Thrush was popular when i was young, their first muffler was a copy of the Cherry Bomb glass pack which was very popular with the low riders as it would crackle and pop and shoot flames on deceleration.
