Anyone installed a Blue Ox baseplate on a Rubicon with a steel bumper? Any tips?
Going to install after Christmas and before New Years Day.

I had the shop who did my lift and tires put the Blue Ox on my LE.

I had the pleasure of taking it off when I installed my winch plate and winch. It’s pretty straight forward. I think there’s 3 bolts on each side. You will lose the skid plate.

Here’s a picture the day I picked it up pre winch.

Do you have the steel or plastic skid plate? If steel Could I trouble you to snap a picture of the skid plate install?

I have the steel skid plate. It’s sitting on top of my workbench. It may be able to be put back on with modifications after install of the Blue Ox but I’m not really that concerned about getting it back on.

I’m thinking of cutting it front to rear about two inches wide. I don’t see that it protects anything outside the frame rails. Comments?

Agreed. With the 37’s I’m running it seems like it’d be hard to hit that area of the Jeep directly under the front bumper.
IMO there’s nothing wrong with cutting it and putting it back on but like I said for me personally I’m not going to worry about it.

I had it cut on the band saw at my local machine shop. Worked out well.
