For the most part I wear jeans and stick it in the watch pocket. I don't notice it and stays closed for the most part.

How much of a pain is it to access and use the blade key?

Isn’t that what’s used to lock the rear seats?
No prob at all accessing the key. I don't know about locking the rear seats or maybe you mean the seat storage which is optional and I don't have that.

Top of the rear seats, by the headrests, I’m lead to understand there are lock cylinders to secure the seats in the up position, to protect what’s stored behind the seats.

I rarely have someone sitting back there. Both seat backs are down and I have my work stuff piled on top and in between. If you have the doors locked and have a hard top then why do you need to lock that stuff?

Partly the principle, and partly because the top and doors come off.

Some of my decision to get a new key fob will be based on how hard it is to get at the blade, which sounds easy enough.

Yes, the rear seat backs can be locked in the upright position.
Cheers

I just realized you can't store an extra key under the visor like everyone used to do. Its too big a key and the truck won't lock with the key in it.

my wife has a 2015 grand cherokee. Why can't we have a fob like they do?

As discussed elsewhere, other solution:

Also allows you to turn over your fob to a valet, car wash, etc. … and keep your prized items locked in the glove compartment, console, or behind the back seat.

It's pretty easy. I have my fingernails trimmed down and can still get the cover off. How long until you get your Gladiator?

Well, that’s the $40,000+ question, isn’t it? “Final Inspection” since Thursday (5 days ago), with no eta for when it might leave the plant. I’m told by an owner it takes a day to get to my dealer, but Jeep Chat repeats the party line of “shipping could take two weeks”.

Thanks for the relatable data on the fob. Doesn’t sound like the latch/catch on the cover is terribly stiff, where getting the key out 2-3 times in one day would be painful.

Key opening in pocket??- problem solved. Cost??- my 7yo is one round short on his rubber band gun.. told him to work on increasing his accuracy to make his fewer remaining shots more effective....
