I do sometimes have it give me a little bit of resistance going into 2nd or 3rd and if i'm not being assertive with my gear changes it can cause it to pop out of gear if i release the clutch when shifting quickly.

One forum member here had one of the gears in the manual transmission popping out. Turned out fca had to replace the entire transmission. I have a manual and never had the issue. Definitely go to a dealer if it persists.

No issues here with popping out of any gear..

Note: I have used my JT significantly off-road, transfer case, lockers, etc..., and now at amost 5K miles, both gear boxes are much smoother and easier to shift, than, when I drove it off the lot with 3 miles on it.

At 197 miles on the clock, my manual tranny started popping out of 4th gear, despite a very positive shift into gear. It was very repeatable - it simply would not hold the gear, all others were fine. My dealer was really good about it - worked with FCA and they quickly authorized a replacement new transmission.....not a rebuild. Dealer did a great job on quick turn around, and gave me a loaner for the duration. Total elapsed time was a week, Friday to Friday, but it was Thanksgiving week and the replacement tranny had to be shipped in. In addition, JeepCares jumped in, had a case opened for me, and FCA extended my factory warranty out to 7 years/75k miles. I'm now a few thousand miles down the road, and the new tranny is working fine. Obviously I was not a happy camper when the tranny failed, but I think FCA did right by me.

Mine goes in this Monday the 27th of January. I'm nervous because I don't trust any dealership. Period! It's really bad though. The wheels have to be putting pressure on the trans or it will kick out. As soon as you let off the gas or downshift it will kick it out and start grinding. I can't even hold it in with my hand. I will have to google Jeep Cares because it sounds like they took care of you.

I was able to keep mine in gear by pulling back on the shifter, but as soon as I let go it would pop out. I don't know your dealership situation, but as I said my dealer did an excellent job on my repair. Also - no need to google @JeepCares - they seem to monitor this forum closely. I will bet they will chime in.

Come to think of it, I PM'd them through this forum regarding my issue.

Ok, Just to touch base, I dropped off my JT Monday (1/27/20) morning first thing. I called them Tuesday to see what the diagnosis was. I was told by the service manager that his tech thinks it is the shifter mechanism and it is going to take till Friday to be delivered to the dealership. I hear nothing from the dealership for the rest of the week. Then I heard from Darlene from JeepCares, through this forum, on the 28th and she said," I am sorry to hear that you have this concern with your Gladiator. How did your appointment go today? If your Jeep is still in service, I would like to escalate a case to a Jeep Wave Specialist for additional support." Woo Hoo!! Jeep actually cares!! Wow! So I get a phone call today from the service manager and he tells me that the shifter mechanism was not the issue and an engineer from FCA came out and looked at it and said that I need a whole new trans. How long is going to take to get the part?? You guessed it, Friday 2/7/20. Then I get a emaill from my very own advocate at JeepCares to insure all questions and issues are addressed. Anyhow that is where I'm at now. Stay tuned!!
