Just got home and all I have to say is wow! More details and pictures this weekend, but power and more power. It is 300 road miles from Boone, NC to Sandy Springs, GA where I live. The first 100 miles of that is on two lane roads that wind through the mountains, then interstate 26 to interstate 85 to interstate 285 to route 19 to my house. I think I averaged 40 mph on the first 100 miles and then 75 mph on the last 200 miles not counting an hour sitting stopped idling in traffic on 85 waiting on an accident to clear. I used 17 gallons of gas, so about 17.5 mpg. Really not bad, but needs verification.

Here’s some teaser pics, but wait until I post a video on the engine. It’s intoxicating! Not the best pictures given the sun and dirty truck. Those are 37/13.5-20 Nittos on Fuel Rampage wheels.

So cool! Enjoy the hell out of it. Power to spare is a wonderful feeling. Marginal power certainly is not.

A factory installed 5.7 would be such a good match, IMO. I really don't feel the MPG would suffer much with it.

Excellent. Following with much attention. I have a stock LE and driving 400 miles mostly on interstate from MA to VT and back I only average 16MPG. Maybe an engine swap is in order....

Hey, whatever excuse you need, go for it!

If you are using my experience to determine gas mileage, let me collect more data first. Too many variables in this run! I’ll post more data as I collect it.

Installed all my collected parts today. The wife was bitching about how hard it is to climb into. Funny, she’s 5’ 11” so you think there would be no issue. I made a short walk around and start up video.

Congratulations from another 63 YO dude!
This should have been a factory option from the bet go!

PS. Was that LR for sale on BAT recently?

Don’t know, but here are a few of my previous solid axel trucks. 1986 LR 90 (3” lift, 37”, linex coated, 12j diesel), 1988 LR 90 (6.2 LS, 6L80, custom interior, highway cruiser), LR 101FC, V8, ZF auto, radio configuration), 1976 Series III Santana (getting a 300TD and front discs in this picture). I can’t find my 1966 Ford Bronco (3” chassis lift, 3” suspension lift, 289, 3 speed). I sold the Bronco about 8 years ago, but it was a monster off road.

The JT is my first Jeep, but I’ve modified every vehicle I’ve owned. This Rubi is the first one Where I didn’t do all the work.

What a small world, i was big into LR`s for quite a few years. I owned a 1960 109 S11, 1967 S11A 2.6 109, both had the flip tops with hammocks. I purchased these two from Mark Harmon in the 90`s. I also had a S11A FC that had been converted into a motorhome that one i had shipped to me from Peru. I had many more that were projects, it was a time when a nice running one could be had for 2-4k, now those days are long gone.

I sold it on BaT in 2018. Did pretty well considering what I had in it.

Fixed my emblem mistake and settled on a name.

BTW, the wife is very happy about my new willingness to run errands for her. Ones that involve driving at least!
