Gotta LOVE a V8 powered CJ-5! Diggin those side mounted mufflers. That’s gotta keep the cab floor nice and toasty!
Are we sure it's an 8 and not a 6 - many 6s have exhaust on the left side, or perhaps a v6.

Yep. Positive. #1 it is a post ‘75 CJ5. You can tell from the windshield frame that tapers to the top and has no protrusion of the windshield wiper motor. So it’s not a V6 unless someone did a very odd swap. #2, it has a V8 badge in the period correct location.

My son had a ‘73 with the 304 V8. OMG kind of torque. Too much really, but fun on the sand dunes!

The 304 took the place of the 290 in 1971, the 360 took over for the 343 (but shared the same bore, just longer stroke) and the 401 took the place of the 390. 1970 was a one year only 390 with a taller deck prepping for the coming 401.
The 304 was a solid engine but these days in the AMC world, you can get them for free - all you have to do is go pick them up because people want the cubes. On our AMC forum there's a write up a guy did of his 304 that cranked out over 350 HP - he did a few mods and really had that thing sounding radical on the dyno.
My warmed over 360 generates 377 hp.

Your JL towers over the Gladiator.
So very real. I have a 2020 JT and the wife has a new 2019 JL. We both have the exact same lift, tires & wheels, yet her JL seems to be 4" taller than my JT. On edit, we just measured: Hers: 76" tall, mine: 75" tall. Only an inch difference, but it sure looks bigger than my JT!

Someone got these together to celebrate the Lunar New Year here in Little Saigon, SoCal. Never seen the ones with the horizontal grill before.

Nice to see the M151A2 “Mutt” photos. I had a nice uncut one back in the ‘80s. I sold it because parts were so awfully hard to come by. Then the military retired it in favor of the Humvee and parts were a dime a pound at military auctions. Miss that one. Rode great and really performed well in mud, sand and the like. Lacked break over angle for rocks and mountains, but there weren’t many of those where I lived at the time. Not a true Jeep, but a great 4x4 none the less.

Look familiar? With all the Jeeps left over there, the Koreans used the spare parts and came up with their own.
