I will head the Brooklyn Mine Jeep Trail run on Saturday, February 15th.
Meetup is at 10am at Santana's Mexican restaurant.
73680 Sun Valley Road
Twentynine Palms, CA
We will drive 15 miles out of town to the former Old Dale Mining District. Here, we will descend into the Brooklyn mining camp where images of a life long past is on display.
The trail is in places rocky, but suitable for a stock Gladiator or high clearance Jeep. The road into Brooklyn Mine is steep with a shelf road that includes a vertical drop-off. Walking paths lead to the precipitous Rose of Peru mine while the Brooklyn Mine camp lie obscured by a small mountain shelf road which must be negotiated.
Our run will end by 4 pm at the Cottonwood Visitors center where restroom facilities and a park store offers snacks and water (if open).
This is a rugged region. Water, food and first aid must be carried in each vehicle. No gasoline is available.
