Yeah ... went to Blacktown Jeep on Saturday - it 'hadn't arrived' ... so went back on Sunday and it was there!

It was awesome but was not stock ... had almost everything on it, lift, bigger tyres, exhaust, tonneau cover, Decked draws, etc ...

Then the sales person was trying SO hard for me to put some coin down to 'secure' one. He reckoned prices would be around $70k for the Sport S (only coming out next year), $76k for the Overland, $82k for the stock Rubi and $90 for the LE ... all exclusive of drive away.

The sales guy was a SALE GUY ... He said that the towing figures had not been announced but he "was sure it would be over 3500kgs as its best-in-class".

As for diesel, also didn't have a clue! He said there was not going to be a diesel because the 2.2l that is in the JL would be under powered. When I said to him about the EcoDisesl and it being in the USA JLs, he just looked at me blankly.

One has arrived at the Osborne Park (Perth) showroom. It’s left hand drive and not ADR compliant, but great to look at. It’s an overland with all the fruit. Sales guy says that it wont come with the diesel as the 3.0 wont fit into a RHD vehicle. So looks like we are stuck with the 3.6 pentastar. He said he is getting 3 LE In May. Red, white and black. Spec for OZ is 3.6 Auto, no manual and inverter change to take 240v. Will come with tow connector plugs as standard.

First opinion: looks good. Seems to be finished well. Long 6m will test a few garages here so take it for a test drive home to see if it fits. No pricing as yet, he said they are not trying to compete with the hilux triton market. Not sure if the rear seat storage is long enough for my guns. Looking forward to taking one for a test drive.

From what I've read tow is around 2700kg for the petrol. And this is why it won't compete with the dual cabs already out there with their 3500kg........

I put that to him ... that I had heard around 2500kgs, he said "no way it will be that low!" I think that is just him not knowing!

It was supposed to be today but has apparently been pushed back to the 6th.

Can only hope that they have seen all the negative feedback on lower spec AUS Gladiators and are doing something about it......
Unfortunately I doubt it but as always I will be very glad to be proven wrong
