I’m looking at putting 35’s on a Rubicon version and a 2” Mopar lift. I’m concern is that adding the 35’s will really affect the towing capability as it does in my commander. My Commander has the 4.7 (~280 hp) and 31” tires and I think 3.75 gear ratio. The stock tires are 245s vs 275’s. Towing is horrible with anything over 3000 pounds. Would I be likely to see the same issues or would the 4.10 gears make up for the difference? ANyone with a 4 door wrangler have experience with towing with larger tires? I know it’s not exactly apples to apples, but might give some insight. Thx

Bumping this old thread instead of starting a new one hoping someone has some insight... I'm having the 33 vs 285/75 vs 35 debate right now and being able to tow ~5k is sort of a requirement for me.

See the thread in this section, Towing with Mopar Lift. Not much in it yet though, just a couple of responses. One is around 4K lbs.

I have 315 70 r17s and I didn't notice any difference in stock. I tow NoBo 19.8 travel trailer. No lift stock suspension and I tried to get the lightest wheels. I didn't want to add a bunch of weight.

I went with 34.4s instead of true 35 since they were lighter.

I have a max tow with 4.10s

I lost a couple of mpg when I went to 33" BFG KO2 tires from the stock. I notice it stay in 7th gear quite a bit now. I have enough power to maneuver in traffic, getting up to speed, passing and so forth.
