Let’s get a thread going for garage ideas, thoughts, pictures, and planning. I’m in the middle of getting my new house setup with my small 400ish sq ft garage organization becoming the front runner of projects now that I’m getting the yard in order.

What’s your setup? What’s your dream garage essentials? Like wood work? Let’s see your shop! Have yours tooled to store your kayak gear? We want to see it!

I don’t have anything worth posting right now, but as I’m going through preliminary planning (we just bought the house), I’ve been enjoying looking for inspiration and love seeing new ideas for organizing tools and gear.

Go team!

Nice! A man after my own heart. Building a garage next to the water in east Tennessee... Our plan is to stay put here in Florida for about three more years and then we're heading for the mountains!

Has anyone ever installed a mini split system for their garage? I'm considering an A/C only for my garage, but not sure if it's worth the expense. Further, would installing a mini split increase the square footage of the home? We're talking of enclosing our rear patio and using a mini split. If that's the case, I could get a dual zone - one for the patio and one for the garage.

Nice! If we had our way, we’d be out your way towards Johnson City or Bristol or the like. Beautiful area!

I went from 240sqft to 900sqft after a major house remodel. Old garage was 12x20, new is 24x36. As close to my dream as I’ll get, living on a cul-de-sac with not a lot of room to expand. Still working on some things as it only finished this past fall. Lots of LED lights to install, and get some work area dialed in, but it’s good for now. A couple before and after pics and one with Jeep social distancing.

The key to a smaller garage is utilizing all available space.

If you have 8ft+ ceilings, consider adding storage space via Racor type storage. Utilize your walls efficiently. I use the Gladiator (coincidence) wall system that allows you a hundred different ways to get things organized. Bright lighting, natural and overhead. Good tool box and bench.

I have had single garages and 3 car garages. It never seems big enough, but you can make it all work.

If you are limited to a specific footprint, can you go higher? 10 ft ceilings would really help... Hard Top hoists, Racor storage, etc.

Good luck.

If you decide to go mini split they are mostly heat pump when you do multiple units. I heat and cool my sun porch 9-10 months out of the year in PA. I could heat it in the coldest days of the year but it loses efficiency below 20. I bought from a company called comfort up. The thing with mini splits is you have to watch the length of refrigerant lines.

DawgBox is waiting patiently it's new 3 car garage to be built in Colorado. Should be done by end of May (along with the house connected to it). Will have enough space to put a lift, have tools properly organized. Sure beats the little apartment garage that I'm wondering whether I can get DawgBox in after he was lifted!

We are remodeling our lake house in NY. It only has an 8’ ceiling (7’ at the door header), but is 1100sf!

1800 sq ft and had to have 220 volt for air compressor with air fast pipe from Rapid Air and welder set up in a corner. Epoxy coated floor, shelving, room for tool boxes and work benches. Just a little messy....... Before and after. Only took 40 years to get it done

House will be completed in about 2 weeks, excited to have a 3rd garage space finally (moving up from the current 1.5 car)! Plan is to have the 3rd stall dedicated to the tools, motorcycles, and an eventual fun car, the bigger portion will be home to the Gladiator and the wife's Velar.
