Hi great build!

how far out past the tailgate does the IKamper stick out?
Here is a picture...it aligns with the tailgate when down...measured 17" out from the bed...13" from the bumper...

Was considering putting a spare tire on a swing out, but don't want to carry that load on the back...keeping it where it is...and maybe have some temporarily heavy items on the tail (trasheroo bag for trash on the way out, and maybe wood on the way in?)...also will in putting a custom rear bumper with a rear winch so the license plate will have to go on the driver side tailgate section with a light...

Some small progress today...work from home & homeschooling has been nuts...and lots of items that are on order haven't arrived yet...(pending still Artec front reinforcement axle, Drifta Kitchen table from Australia, National Luna yellow/white flat LED light for the toilet annex, new 6L hot water boiler to be connected to AUX 4 switch, and other small stuff...).

Today installed a second fire extinguisher under the driver seat after seeing it on a thread here...used the Atomic Monkey headrest mount I had lying around...not ideal but will test out the location and use a more appropriate mount if the location doesn't bother me.

Also decided to install a 3rd one in the bed in the shown location (close to the FAK, Fridge and on the other side of the tail gate I'll be cooking, so good location...). Just need my nutserts tool back from my buddy...

Also installed 2 x Baja Designs amber work lights for the rear bed area...one to light the bed area for general use...if I needed something stronger the rear work white light can be used but will be too bright unless needed...and another amber light on the side where the tent folds over and is usually the camp side...so good for general light for the camp area...

Did you pick amber for the work lights because it'll attract fewer insects?

Yes, exactly...and milder on the night vision on the eyes...if I need to "work" on the tailgate, I have the rigid work light that can give a LOT of light...plus two hand-held LED lights that I can plug into the 12v socket...but that's extreme.

I do plan on install the 3rd Baja Design amber light under the hood if possible for any under bonnet work in the dark...not necessary, but I have a 3rd one, so better than sitting on the shelf...

Eventful past 24hrs!

Installed the fire extinguisher after getting the rivet tool from my buddy. Installation was simple clean and in a dead area.

Got my custom decals from another friend...they turned out awesome! Now it's official!

Took a stroll in the desert around sunset...rig performed great but needs far better shocks than the Rubicon Fox with the extensions. More on this soon. Also ordered a Hellwig rear sway bar which should help.

You can see a hint of the amber BD lights in the last picture....those tiny lights are super bright!

More to come this week (kitchen table arrives tomorrow from Australia)

The rack is finished and powder coated...came out exactly what I wanted and now getting accessories mounted for space optimization
Pardon me if I missed it (I keep going through this thread and then get caught up thinking about another great idea after seeing yours)- how is your custom rack being attached to the bed? LOVELOVELOVE that the OEM roll cover can still function and that you have support all the way to the back frame....

Thanks for your kind words...I've attached some pictures and the auto cad design that can maybe help you see how we did a 3-way fold to get to the bed where we used the OEM M6 bolts...

I love the rack, it is so useful and subliminal...doesn't take too much visual real estate and does the job and more...

Got the table sorted. This is from Japan by a company called Uniflame, high quality and smart design/material, relatively affordable.

Also got a dry case for the kitchen stuff, where all the goodies go including the Coleman 424. So with these two items the kitchen is set for our family of 5, and when I go solo, the table stays home I'll use the tailgate, and drop the number of plates/items to 2 instead of 5.

Packs up nice and weight is relatively low.

So did a shakedown run while observing social distancing...went camping to 800m to beat the heat that is starting in the UAE...

started the day at noon with full air con and dune riding...the Gladiator did great and handled everything at it well...I was at 18psi...with the Methods and their special lip guard thing for low psi I could have gone lower but didn't need it...

Passed by some epic fossilized monuments called Fossil Rock...the 2.5" EVO and 35" tires give some good clearance...though I think 37s would be ideal for more technical terrain than overloading...the rear departure angle was not an issue at any point...

a couple of hours before sunset a JLU and I set off to meet a couple of friends at a 800m high (2,600ft) plateau to camp sharing only the fire...truck did great and got there in time to pop the tent and light the Baja Designs amber lights and then open the kitchen and do some good tenderloin steaks on the wood bbq...

WE had an amazing breeze and temps were low enough to have a great sleep...next day, bacon, egg and cheese wraps and we were on our way...clouds were forming for an afternoon sprinkle...

The GOAT of offroad faring us good bye...

Some learnings:
1. OEM Rubicon shocks inadequate for what I need...need a REAL game changer there
2. On board air, tent, fridge, solar and aux battery systems worked awesome
3. Low gearing on the Rubicon is awesome
4. Next will be to do the custom rear winch bumper with 2" receiver, install the traction boards under the tent, Hellwig rear anti roll bar, 6L water boiler, and some other small items to wrap the build up as we figure out the shocks.

But this trip was enough to convince me that the truck is perfect for family camping for 2-3 nights or multi-week excursions for me and a buddy...set up works great!

So today I received my 6L water boiler that will go on top of the tank. German made with insulation, my plan is to wore it to the aux 2 switch (40a draw) as it is a 12v/200w machine. The on board air is on Aux 1, the Baja Designs lights on 3, and the rear work light on 4. the goal is to install it with a pump, filter and a small aluminum enclosure for protection (open to the tonneau cover for maintenance) and basically switch it on as I am en route to camp...

Once there, run the pump, a mixer with the main 65L tank, and voila! Hot shower on demand...to move water from the tank to the boiler I'll have a diverter and use air pressure into the tank to move water up to the boiler...

It fits perfectly on top of the tank and under the tonneau.

This past weekend my Coleman 424 wasn't working so I dismantled to whole thing and cleaned it and got it back to normal...

Waiting on my Artec truss to go into the sho for several jobs:
  • Rear tailgate protection (for trasheroo)
  • Rugged Ridge inner front fenders (the OEM gave way after the sand section, I had to cut out 1/4 of the driver side)
  • Rock Krawler rear 4 link
  • Front Artec Truss fitment
  • Test fitment of the Fox 3.0 IBP shocks
  • 4 way air and Pressure Perfect
  • Wiring boiler to Aux 2 (OBA Aux 1, BD to 3, rear to 4)
That's about it for now...

Mild update here, until I get a roster of new parts coming across the Atlantic...

Square rear plate that will eventually be on a flip thingy when the rear winch bumper is done. Temp use of zip ties...

Took some time to go for a solo drive with a relatively full moon enjoying the sunset and the foolish moon...

Tested the amber lights around the rear (Baja Designs) and the flat one for the toilet awning (National Luna)
