Why didn't anyone tell me this thread existed before now?

This is our 6.4 Hemi Swap with Dynatrac 60's (72" wide)RK long arm 5" with front coilovers, Nitto 40's, etc. On Pritchett Canyon a few weeks ago.

When I was in high school, I had a 1978 CJ5. I liked the way that the dash was the same color as the exterior.

So, I updated the dash on my Hydro Blue JT. I wanted it to remain as "stock looking" as possible. I disassembled the dash (all kinds of youtube videos to help) and took the parts to a local auto body shop, had them paint them, then I re-assembled everything. Outstanding results, IMHO.

@JeepCares , this is how the dash should look when you build them!!!

As close to "stock looking" as I think it could be...

I also had the reverse shifter ring thinggy painted. I thought it sloppy of Jeep, that only Rubicon drivers have a matching dash!

Paint shop charged me $159 when I went to pick it up. I gave him $200 for the job.

Any idea how hard it would be to pull all the silver trim bits out and do the same? The color match looks awesome

To my knowledge, the only silver trim bits are the 2 around the tach & speedo. The job would be a little easier for that b/c it doesn't involve removing that passenger side airbag. You'd still need to remove the starter/HVAC panel, remove the 2 screws holding the radio bezel in, remove the radio bezel, remove the phillips screw holding the top dash in, remove the top dash, remove the 4 screws holding the driver pannel in & remove the driver side pannel. On the back side, there are 5 or 6 clips holding the silver trim rings in -- they remove easily this way. It might take you 30-40 minutes to disassemble. You could put everything back together while the paint is drying -- those chrome rings just push back in.

The painter is exceptional at matching paint. He also had the body-shop master list of paint code -> paint recipes. He pulled out 2 or 3 paint chips from that system -- they ALL looked the same to me -- he held them up and told me why each of the "wrong" ones didn't match. I couldn't see what he was talking about, all of them looked like an exact match. I wanted a similar sheen to the stock panels -- it was egg shell, or satin -- using that low luster clear coat darkened the color slightly, but not in a way that clashes with the exterior.

Love the Jeep bud! I do believe I looked at that very Jeep. What dealer did you get it from?
I picked it up from Willowbrook Chrysler.
Originally looked at a black manual at Coquitlam, but I'm just to lazy to use a clutch off road haha.
