Welcome to my HYDRO-ONE build page. This is my first time owning a Jeep and I’m pretty excited to say the least. I factory ordered my JTR back in mid May and have been a member here since. I have to say that all the while waiting for my Gladiator and following everyone else’s builds I had a pretty solid idea off what exactly I wanted to do but now that I’ve actually got it I’m not so sure anymore. I guess I’m just gonna take it slow and go with my gutt as I think I’d like to keep it a pretty clean build.

Anyways I hope you all enjoy watching the NEWB in action and any and all feedback is welcome!

thanks.

The second mod I'm doing is the Wheels and tires. Mopar beadlock capable wheels with Toyo Open County MT 35/12.5/17.

I have sent the trim rings out to get powder coated in semi gloss black.

I've ordered the mopar 2" lift which is on backorder here so I'm gonna roll without the lift for a bit just to get the feel of the upsized tires.

Just mocked them up to get an idea of how they will look.

Well I was so caught up in my wheels and tire that I forgot about the Mopar mesh sun bonnet that I ordered with my Jeep.

Here is a bit of how this install has played out...

Here's the part number if anyone is interested.

Jeep Gladiator NEWBBUILD HYDRO-ONE 20200817_134153

I've watched a few YouTube videos on the install and everyone seems to say to leave it out in the sun. I was out in the 100 degree sun for 3hrs, should be good right?

Jeep Gladiator NEWBBUILD HYDRO-ONE 20200817_104431

This hook is supposed to wrap under and hook onto the trim inside the jeep...not happening. I left it out in the sun all day after I installed it hoping the sun would make it more malleable but I just don't see it stretching anymore than it has...

Same thing for these rear straps left and right. It actually started to tear the stiching so I stopped. I'll give it a go in the next few days but I might just end up cutting them off. We'll see.

All in all I think it looks pretty bad ass without the roof off and I love the extra bit of protection the sun bonnet offers me here in the Okanagan. Its been hot as f**k this summer so the jeep couldn't have come soon enough. The biggest complaint outside of it not fitting 100%, is that you can't just slap the roof back on. You have to unzip it from the front windshield and take it off before you put the top back on, and for that reason I'd probably look for a better option if I could do it again.

Next on my things to do list cause this just isn't gonna float my boat! No way I am just leaving that top on my garage floor like this...

So my lift kit arrived! I'm not in a super big hurry to put it on as I want to drive it for a bit with the 35's and those should be on by Tuesday. The only question is do I want to install it or should I have it installed? I figured that the cost to buy all the tools ill need is pretty much the same cost as getting the darn thing put on but at least this way I get the experience and the tools of course.

If anyone reading this has or knows of a really complete install video on the mopar 2" lift please post me a link. Thanks.

Step 1:

Make that crate into garage art.

Step 2:

That's all I got.

looking good! Love those wheels. I just had the mopar lift put on. I also debated doing it myself or having the shop do it. I just had them do it bc the dealer I bought it from did it for free. You should see if your dealer will cut you a deal.

cant wait to see it lifted! Cheers

Thanks I can’t wait either.

My dealer wants $600. But it’s not really about the money, I want the experience more than anything.

So I mounted my tires this morning. I was undecided which tires to go with the BFG. KM3 or the Toyota open country MT. So I told the dealer to surprise me. Toyo it was. I'm running them at 35psi. right now. (Is that to high?) They ride actually really nice so I'm quite pleased.

Next up is the lift kit but I think I might just level it first and then do the lift kit later...

Looks great! At least your dealer knew a ballpark PSI. Discount tire had mine at around 45 when I picked it up lol
