Death Valley trip Presidents Day weekend: BC 2020 (Before Covid)

This one night we set up on an old concrete pad that once had a mining building on it - we used it as our non-rocky campsite

I see you have the new smittybilt gen 2 xl tent, just wandering how you mounted it to the bed and what kind of overhang you have. Thinking of going that same route for the extra room the xl offers.

In the first pic, the tent is mounted to a high-end, fully custom rack that definitely isn't made of scrap 2x4's and plywood and halfassedly mounted to the trail rail system in the bed lol.

In the second pic, the tent is mounted to a Hooke Road, mid-height bed rack that is supposed to go on a current model Tacoma. I had to make some custom mounting brackets out of some small rectangular tubing and some longer hardware as the supplied mounting hardware and brackets wouldn't fit around the roughly 4" wide by 2" tall crossbars of the Hooke Road rack. The overhang is about 8" past the tailgate. The space the XL provides is insane.

I'm going to write up a full post about the rack a little later as it is a quality and much more affordable bed rack option for the Gladiator (it is even able to use the supplied T-slot nuts to mount to the trail rail system as Toyota's in-bed rail system is very similar).
