Stagecoach mode! Keeps the kids safe in the back.
  2. Finally available! > 2020 Jeep Gladiator Accessories - Trailer Brake Controller - 82215652

With the Echo, get a phone mount so the emergency trailer brake function is readily accessible. Then use CarPlay for all other functions. Echo app on the phone screen, CarPlay on the radio screen. Disable auto screen lock in display settings. This works very well.
  3. Suspension advice to deal with squatting while towing a 4300 pound trailer?

I paid $120 for the dealer to install my e2 because I didn’t want to do it myself in their parking lot. It was clunking around worse than I’d expect. I found the shank bolts where loose. Spec on those is 250 ft lbs. They were less than 100. If you don’t have one, get the 1/2 in drive Tekton...
  4. Bad steering box 68418449AE

After reading through this and other threads and driving several JL/JTs (2018s to 2020s, all Rubis) I have a few conclusions with which you may or may not agree. 1. All the JLs and JTs (five total) I’ve driven (100s of miles) felt loose to me. Some were more loose than others. About 1/2 to 1 in...
  5. How to Adjust the Slop out of the Steering System (I am finally happy with my Jeep)

Snap a picture with a ruler on top of those pieces of tape, and I can let you know how it compares to five other JL/JTs I’ve driven extensively.
  6. Suspension advice to deal with squatting while towing a 4300 pound trailer?

Take measurements of the FRONT for the WDH setup. Here are the instructions for my hitch: https://www.fastwaytrailer.com/pdf/FW_e2_Trunnion-Owners-Manual.pdf Look at page 15 and see where yours is. With a 600 lbs tongue weight and the trunnions connected, I get back to the unhitched front...
  7. How Hot? Is to Hot?

Agree the 75-85 range is best without gear. It’s 90 here today which means I’ll collapse from heat exhaustion if I walk more than five paces away from my house, or if I slow down below 45 mph driving a naked Jeep.
  8. How hard is it offroading in a manual transmission?

Haven’t done it with a manual, but the auto works hard grinding through 8 speeds. The auto’s advantage for towing and off road is what swayed me.
  9. How Hot? Is to Hot?

Here in MN, 40 deg is my lower limit. However, that requires a coat, gloves, and hat. 60 deg is quite pleasant with pants and long sleeves. Cold weather group makes doors/top off more accessible in lower temps.
  10. How Hot? Is to Hot?

Above roughly 98.6 deg F, the wind will heat you up.
  11. So, what is everybody towing?

Awesome! What speed were you able to maintain over these passes? Any trouble braking on the way down?
  12. Jeep Places in Top 11 of JD Powers Initial Quality Survey

I am highly biased but know this can’t be true...
  13. What did you do WITH your Gladiator today?

Looks like a fun time. Where in Dresser is this?
  14. Clunking noise after 3.5" lift

The shop probably tightened something before it was on the ground, and now the connections are shifting. The springs don’t settle. They may be misaligned. If it were me, I’d check the spring alignment in the perches. Then, while it’s on the ground supporting its own weight, I would loosen all...
  15. Any issues from rain storm with no top?

Much is like the JL. Jeep did mist tests and learned from those putting little gutters inside to protect electronics. If anything fails, let it dry for a while before trying again. Make sure all seats and carpet are dry to avoid mold growth. Carpets can be pulled to dry more effectively. In...
  16. How to Adjust the Slop out of the Steering System (I am finally happy with my Jeep)

Exactly. My JL had an oil leak. I self diagnosed it as a rear main seal failure. The service manager said they don’t know why it’s leaking but could replace the rear main seal or “wait and see.” I asked them to replace it. That involved removing the transmission. After it was done, I asked the...
  17. How to Adjust the Slop out of the Steering System (I am finally happy with my Jeep)

Again, I’m just guessing based on what I’ve read. With many reported cases of JL steering locking up at high speeds, this is different than something like an alignment that’s slightly off. Dealers replace broken parts. They don’t tune much of anything.
  18. How to Adjust the Slop out of the Steering System (I am finally happy with my Jeep)

Probably could have selected a better example. Here are some more: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/steering-locked-up-when-going-around-a-curve.39526/page-7 https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/steering-locked-up-and-dash-lit-up.31489/...
  19. How to Adjust the Slop out of the Steering System (I am finally happy with my Jeep)

I have followed the steering issues on the JL forums for two years now. I don’t know for sure, but the most sensible explanation I’ve read is FCA has the spec biased towards loose to avoid gear binding at cold temperatures. Here is one example...
  20. Loose Steering Box Bolts

Here are the actual torque specs from FCA for the Gladiator as of yesterday. The long bolts are in the front. This may yield more than 99 ft lbs.
