I like the level look, but hate the sag. It's a truck, it should be usable. So I worked backwards.
I installed the coils without any spacers, then loaded it up to the max payload I knew it'd see, then measured how much rake was left. Then added spacer to the front to end up level at full load...
The gasser and diesel coils are different, both the standard and the high capacity offerings. The high capacity coils both quote the same added capacity, so presumably the difference between the two would just be to handle the added mass of the diesel platform itself, as with the standard coils...
I also run a front spacer with AEV coils. To add to the whole rake loaded/unloaded conversation, I run HD AEV diesel specific coils with the diesel. 1" Spacer in the front. Winch, rear rack with tent and full size spare 24/7 and I load it up for camping trips sometimes with a trailer and another...
Also seems to me like a metal piece that clips into a metal piece wouldn't be as efficient as an element directly submerged in the coolant, but maybe the difference is negligible.
I coughed up for the Rebel. I wanted the beefiest rack possible, and it looks best in terms of shape and size with the iKamper mini in particular, imo. I wanted something that could hold the RTT, the full size (37) spare tire for ground clearance, and still survive the bashing and torquing that...
I just got back from a trip around colorado. Lots of driving at 14k+ ft and the diesel was flawless, with the snorkel. No noticeable loss of power up there, just opted to manually shift to keep it in boost on the passes.
Ok gotcha. I was trying to combat that continued bounce, especially when towing and going over expansion joints and dips in the road, in conjunction with ride height. I replaced the coils first to get the load handling then figured I would replace shocks if/when I need to. Surprisingly, the...
Those are 37" Coopers, yes.
When you say "shock up or spring up" are you just saying you have some money to burn so it's one or the other, or are you considering coilovers? I'm certainly not trying to talk down to you but just want to make sure you know shocks don't have an affect on ride...
Been happy with my AEV HD coils (diesel.) A 1" spacer in the front with a winch on the factory steel bumper and about 575 lbs in/on the bed as pictured (counting the spare that's mounted under the rack)
Drives balanced, rides pretty good. Still using the factory fox shocks spaced down...
I think with the weight they balance out pretty good. I'm still a bit light for what they're designed for but I won't be fully loaded. As long as you have the weight over top of them the ride quality should be more heavily dictated by your shocks, imo. Ride quality is very subjective, though...
Installed a set of AEV High Capacity coils. They're intended for a constant 400-700 lbs of rear cargo. I'm at about +375 rear but I also want to be able to hook up the TJ which is an additional ~625 lbs on the hitch and have it sit level and not wallow all around. Prior setup was a 3" front...
