  1. Any reason to avoid Manual Transmission?

The funny thing is that everyone wants to blame the Taco AT but the 3.90 axles were too tall for the double OD design and after swapping third members from a wrecked MT into an AT, the 4.30 gears totally woke it up. It has an even deeper OD than the JT so I know some guys were running 5.29s...
  2. Any reason to avoid Manual Transmission?

Yeah it was still manageable, just not as brain dead as putting it in 3rd or 4th and the slippage requires a lot more RPM to achieve the same effect. Only time it really bothered me was towing 6k through Payson into Phoenix. Those grades don't mess around.
  3. Any reason to avoid Manual Transmission?

Coming from two 6MT Tacos before the JT, the 8AT is just insanely good with factory 4.10 gears. Very smooth and good ratio split. It was my first AT truck in years and the only time I had a hint of regret was the lack of engine braking while towing steep grades... catch-22, it was more than...
  4. Any reason to avoid Manual Transmission?

It's a totally different box than the Tacos which are rated for about 20% more torque. The 6mt in the JL and JT are barely rated for what the engine puts out but it was a required compromise because nothing else fits in the 2dr chassis. It wasn't an issue in the Wrangler that doesn't really...
  5. Confused on Transmission Service

The courts have disagreed with you on this time and time again. Yes, and YOU can do the service as long as it's according to procedures. There are consumer protections codified in law that prevent manufacturers from requiring you to have it serviced in certain places. Recommended intervals is...
  6. Confused on Transmission Service

I disagree. The worst scenario for a transmission is frequent shifting and time spent out of lockup. Mountain driving, low speed commuting, and short trips - especially when cold - all cause accelerated wear. Servicing a transmission is about purging the worn materials and refreshing the fluid...
  7. Confused on Transmission Service

Trips under 10 miles in cold winters, stop and go traffic, towing regularly, mountain roads, dirty/dusty conditions, and hot summers all specify using the severe maintenance schedule. The commuting and climate ones alone cover most drivers and given these are Jeep pickups I sincerely hope a...
  8. Drop Hitch Recommendations

Love the adjustable height for different loads too. Even with the max tow springs the difference in squat is pretty dramatic. With the pin design you can just put a jack under the tongue and dial it in.
  9. Confused on Transmission Service

They legally cannot deny warranty claims for a vehicle being serviced according to procedures. The burden is on them to prove it is the cause of the failure. That won't stop them in some cases but this is not common and it's a line dealers use to scare people. Any competent shop is more than...
  10. Arizona Dana Spicer 1350 front driveshaft

Part of the long list of projects never completed after buying a house, it's never been installed. 1350 joints with double cardian for taller lifts. Includes what you see here but if I find the transfer case side nut that I had to buy separately before you get here I'll throw that in too...
  11. Arizona OE Parts grab box and then some

The crap I've accumulated over the past few years. Likely missing hardware and whatever else so $100 can come pick it up in the east valley. All or nothing and I'm not shipping anything unless you really make it worth my while. Items of note that should be in there: Rubicon bumper w/ hooks...
  12. Arizona RLD v2 bed cap with Rhino Rack

I can take pics of it on the dollies where it currently sits if there's something specific you're looking for but no more truck. It mounts with L brackets to the forward holes the factory tonneau uses and to each side rail. No interior tracks.
  13. Arizona Synergy 4" springs front and rear springs BNIB

Bought for more lift, never got around to installing. Brand new in sealed box so basically half price... $360 for the set.
  14. Arizona PowerTank 20lb setup

Moving to a compressor setup so selling my tank. The tank itself is just a generic tank - I found finding a welding supply for a swap pretty trivial on the road compared to shops able/willing to fill a 20#. The setup is a few years old but functions perfectly and spent the whole time under a...
  15. Is the Gladiator at risk for cancellation?

I don't either which is why I have one each of the two best 4.0L sixes ever made.
  16. Is the Gladiator at risk for cancellation?

Car and Driver also consistently rates the Ridgeline the best midsize pickup; are you really going to give their opinion any credence for anything on the topic? I'm not going to go any further to justify my purchase other than to say that for my needs it's an upgrade in every way except the one...
  17. Is the Gladiator at risk for cancellation?

I mean, it's literally the same platform as the Focus (also Escape and Transit Connect) so that makes sense. I dig it for what it is but it's a pickup for people who don't tow, off-road, or haul more than half a ton... so basically it's perfect for about 70% of truck buyers.
  18. Is the Gladiator at risk for cancellation?

Exactly right. The annual cost for the YJ is what we'll spend on a nice date night but it's not a wash because the lower insurance on the 4Runner is offset by the lack of depreciation and higher taxes. But as you can imagine, with a statement like the first, it's not a concern. The joys of...
  19. Is the Gladiator at risk for cancellation?

I totally agree. Trail bashing in a $40k truck I drove daily was totally irresponsible so I figured it would be better to buy the last generational year of an SUV that doesn't know the meaning of the word depreciation and a $3k toy to build for trails. You act like people don't buy second...
  20. Is the Gladiator at risk for cancellation?

Yup. It's fun for what it is but it tries to do too much. It not big enough for big truck stuff, too long for a lot of wheeling stuff, and it's a shit daily compared to anything else. I think that's the great weakness because aside from time in the dirt or the looks, there's zero reason to...
